Ignore contact useless as people use the same email address

There are many on newsgroups who use email addresses like no@spam.com and me@privacy.net

If you try to "ignore contact" for one of these, they all get ignored!

Yeh, you just can't ignore those contacts if some legitimate users use them. But, it's their fault for not using a real address or not using a fake address that's unique.

It's hardly a posters fault for not thinking about how a newsreader might filter. Why isn't Opera using the name too? Filtering by email only seems very odd.

People change their display name all the time. Each time they do, the "ignore contact" code would no longer work for the contact unless there's some detection code and something to notify the user and ask if they want to associate that name with an existing contact. Even then, if 2 users named "Bob" that only put "Bob" and use no@spam.com send you messages, you'd be right back in the same boat.

Any solution would be too complex for a simple feature like ignore contact.

That's just my personal opinion though.

People (usually trolls) change their "email address" all the time too. Opera needs to ask the user what they want to filter on. When I make my own filter I use all sorts of criteria.

I used "fault" loosely and un-harshly. Just meant that some users that use fake addresses would gladly fix the address so that it's unique but still fake if you explain the situation. Newsgroup tutorials could evangelize this too.
