sending address to a script, opera 11.50 ubuntu 11.10

i`m customizing content (file?) type associations in opera on linux system
i want .torrent file link to be sent to a script downloading and saving it
so i go to preferences>advanced>download, select .torrent file extension, edit,
than choose open with other application
and in the corresponding field i write down:
~/scripts/opera_torrent.sh %l
if i understand it right, %l should return the address of the link in *nix systems
(don`t now, where to find some manual on this substitutions - opera tries to keep it secret, so i`ve found it in some blog)
i`m not checking pass web address directly to application option,
because in this case status bar stucks trying to download something

but test output says, that opera sends exactly "%l" characters to the script, not the link.
what am i doing wrong?

Have you tried it without the %l? Also, are you sure that ~ works and you don't have to give the full /home/user path?

yep, you were right, it works fine without any %l or passing web address to app...
maybe, it was required in some older versions of opera...
thx

To use another BitTorrent client with Opera:
Go to Tools > Preferences > Advanced > Downloads
Unselect “Hide file types opened with Opera”
Type “torrent” in the Quick find box

Double-click the line that looks like this:
application/x-bittorrent torrent
Select “Open with default application”
"C:\Programme\Transmission Remote\Transmission Remote.exe" "%s"

opera version 11.52 & windows

This is the Linux forum, hanshauberger ... that probably won't work.

It's similar enough. However, the OP describes doing just that, so it would seem to be redundant (on top of the problem already being solved).
