Mouse gestures stopped working on upgrade to 11.52

I recently accepted the automatic upgrade to 11.52. However, it seems that mouse gestures have stopped working, despite the fact that they are marked as being on in the Preferences dialog (I have re-saved the preferences to make sure they still don't work).

Has anyone else found this?

Are there any easy solutions, other than reverting to a previous version?
