Taxinumbers.tel
Not all tels suck - UK TaxiNumbers.tel Telnics recent tel of the week, use the best features of .tel; i.e. the internal search, the seo friendly sub-domain, the click to call, mobile phone friendliness.Taxinumbers.tel delivers a new, fast, simple, ad free, solution to calling a Taxi in every town in the UK. Bookmark it on your iphone, or get the Android app. from Android Market and you will have a free, up to date, click to call, UK Taxi directory on your mobile.
Every town is a first level sub-directory e.g. York.taxinumbers.tel, Goole.taxinumbers.tel. Home page is just an A-Z and search box - not everyone has an iPhone or new smart phone, Taxinumbers.tel is just aseasily accessible on older phones as well.
At the moment we only have a one or two taxis in every town, but every UK town is covered, and with inclusion in the directory costing only a Taxi Driver (slang for a fiver) a year - yes I know it's too cheap - we'll soon have an ever updated comprehensive directory.
Google has already bumped it to a PR2 and its achieving great Serps results. Go on give it a try, and if you drive a Taxi and you're not in it, join now.

Absolutely. TEL domains have many uses. I would not be otherwise buying them, and still doing it. I have renewed almost every of my TEL domains, maybe one slipped out, I don't know. Imagine I still have 150+ domains and still going for it. This means paying pretty good money for that.
Well, we have TEL of the Week awards every week too, on this forum or elsewhere, and one domain will be picked up which sucks every week.
Right now, only http://telnic.tel has been picked up, among the choice of a a short list of domains: telnic.tel -- so each week we will choose one of those, so that I don't need to update that forum post. :-)
BTW, I am preparing the rest of the answer. It is getting installed. We can count from now on. I finished installing it.
Does every TEL domain sucks? Maybe this is answer to that: http://telnic.tel-sucks.com
TEL domain is by advertising wrong, not by design or usage. The advertising or what was promised is not what has been delivered. I am heavy heavy user of TEL domains, and with knowledge of many years I can use them, but not that I have to register any more of them. What is there is there, rarely I register a new one.
But INFO domains I use, and COM and others. Because they are versatile and everything you put on TEL you can put elsewhere too, and even more.
The concept is wrong by design, because if you put something in DNS, everybody has access to it. During writing of this post, I have installed a proxy on http://tel-sucks.com and now truly by the word, each TEL domain may suck by design.
There is a parody in my writings and a message. I don't mind about the design and DNS stuff, as long as I can make SEO advantages out of it. Only few people know what I speak of. TELNIC knows that and I am sure my writings appear dangerous to them, because WHOLE concept of TEL domains is in danger, when everybody can freely take the DNS data and redistribute in an automatic data.

I did not check mine, but I think some of them are already PR4. One is PR0 but giving money on AdSense. At least some of them pay themselves out in a year, I am satisfied with that.
But I am in gold business, so I purchased a lot of gold over TEL domains, they brought me a lot of traffic, phone calls. But not the TEL domain is cause of that, but my SEO knowledge.
The only stuff TEL domain does is reserves one of keywords, and enables easier usage of subdomains. But I was using subdomains on my servers since a decade, and some are still active websites with good rankings. Every domain may have multiple subdomains.
All I have to do in my script is give * joker sign for subdomain, and DNS system understands all subdomains suddenly. Example is on http://youdomain.tel-4.com or http://sucks.tel-sucks.com as any TEL domain works in that manner.
The idea was good for the 2001, or when was that proposed by TELNIC. The template were good for that time too. But now is 10 years after that, templates shall be much much better and concept is by design wrong.
I like .tel for what it is, not what everyone else, (see my blog) wants it to be. I buy gold to wear, fine wine to drink, houses to live in, have always had at least £10 worth of fun or return on all the .tels I bought. You have to admit for the price, .tel is the best value web presence you can have.
Anyway, even if I'm the only other member, it's good to be on a forum with Jlouisbiz. Saw you make a brief appearance on the Telnic forum, no chance we'll see more of you there is there, it could do with a little JL input, since you regged a few names, you have a thread all to yourself http://www.telnic.org/forum/showthread.php?p=18828#post18828

I cannot see that link as I am banned from TELNIC forum. Not only me, TELNIC has expunged a lot of writings from various people, anything in fact what was critics of TEL domains, was deleted from there. They carefully select new members, and did not approve my account also in the second attempt before few days. I did not try though for a year I think.
TEL domains are good, just as any domains, for brand protection. They are good for SEO, as they offer quick and easy subdomains.
But they are not the best value web presence, not at all. Too limited for such a statement. If I would be completely new on Internet, maybe I would say yes. But not so really. You register these days INFO for few dollars, not more than US $3 and with some registrars you get the simple web hosting for free. In 21st century we cannot come back to where Internet was before decades.
The original idea of TELNIC was way back on begin of 21st Century. We have to understand that their idea did not give fruits in time, they got too late approved by ICANN, so that domain will never truly catch up with the Internet development. And judging by TELNIC's development, it does not move anywhere forward.
I have read recently some depressing statements on TELNIC forums, that what I could read, and I have seen some bulk drop outs from some of TEL domain owners which have invested a lot on TEL domains. Not quite surprising to me.
TEL could become very good, it depends of the change that will be implemented by TELNIC.
If they would implement this kind of templates it would be good: http://themesforest.net
See these:

Imagine you would have 50 professional virtual business card templates on TEL domains? That would boost the new sales for TELNIC, and many would even prefer such a domain, because most of people use Internet websites simply as a virtual business card.
It comes across the TELNIC's claims that TEL domain is not a website. I understand such statements, but I don't understand their ignorance of the public, because THEY don't understand it. TELNIC refers constantly that TEL is universal information stored in the DNS, but who gives a heck about DNS, people don't know about that. They see TEL domain as a website. Other applications are pretty much suppressed, by too little development.
Good templates, really good templates would boost TEL very much.
But will that really happen? When they said look people, we have some new templates, I was thinking really nice. Until I saw the ugliest templates ever. Even Geocities and Fortunecities was way better than those ugly dark and unreadable templates which are today on TEL.
There is nothing wrong in people speaking about anything, as long as they are speaking. If they would have true knowledge of public relation, they would not really simple delete all the posts from the public forum. Forum is a cafe and in cafe, it may get loud.
