Fixed: Opera Mini 6.5 does not work on iPhone 3GS
I just "upgraded" Opera Mini to version 6.5 on my iPhone 3GS and it no longer works. I get the "Connection Failed" message every time I try to use it. It worked fine before the "upgrade" and Safari still works fine, so it isn't a network settings issue. I've tried turning the phone off and on, but it doesn't make a difference.We've seen users experiencing similar problems. Things that may help:
* change connection type from cellular to wifi or vice versa
* perform a clean install
We're on the case and we'll update binaries ASAP. Stay tuned

Opera Mini 6.5.1 for iOS is ready. It addresses network related problems.
There are a couple of stability bug fixes included too. So don't hesitate and update.

I just installed Opera Mini 6.5.1 on my iPhone 3GS and it did not fix the network problem. I still get the "Connection Failed" message every time I try to use it. Changing from wifi to cellular does not make a difference. I am getting very discouraged with Opera. It hasn't worked at all in the last two weeks.

The new, just-released version (6.5.1) doesn't seem to have any problems. See my new review.
Did you upgrade it on the iPhone 3GS running iOS 4.3.5? That doesn't work. I'm told that it will work if you delete Opera and its files before installing 6.5.1, but that would mean deleting all of my saved pages and links. That is not acceptable. If I'm going to have to start over with links, etc., I'll do it with a browser that's more stable.

1, nope, made a fresh install.
2, you can always backup / restore everything using iPhone Explorer or Phone Disk, even on a non-jailbroken iDevice and without explicit support on Opera Mini's part - see http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/great-news-windows-users-phonedisk-finally-compatible-system-other-itunes-less-synchronizati
