Why does Opera stay in memory after you exit it?

Why does Opera stay in memory after you exit it? It's happened with 11.00 to 11.52 for me.

I have to open the task manager and kill it before I can load Opera back.

What is the cause?

It just happens every now and then. I can not pinpoint why some sessions are different.

It's a bug. It happens sometimes. The more programs you have running at the same same time competing for the computer's resources such as have Opera Next, and Opera on at the same time I get that problem. Multi-tasking can make it happen more often, so it's best you have a idle computer, you can have programs open, just not in use, then let Opera close. When Opera closes it saves your settings, cache, RSS feeds or any other data that you accumulated, or changed during a session. Report to Opera about the bug, so they can fix it.

I am glad I am not alone with this problem.

What is the official way to report the bug so I can help them?

It's seems to be a known problem, so there is no need to (a new) report.

But you can report problems with Opera on: https://bugs.opera.com/wizard/

Thanks for the link. I reported it anyways, sometimes bugs can be related to statistics. Like is it happening more with XP-SP3, or everyone who is using JAVA, or well, they can find relationships to start the bug kill.

Thanks again.

Long-standing, well-known but not well-understood problem, with both slow shutdowns, and failed shutdowns. Depending on how interested you are, see this post and this thread. If you want more, follow some of the other links found in those posts, including this lengthy thread.
