removing Google search/cursor focus on Portal pages?

I mainly use my keyboard when browsing the web (don't use/have mouse) and usually without any issues. However when I visit portal.opera.com it always annoys me how the cursor automatically is focused within the Google Search bar preventing me from scrolling down by using the space bar. I always have to use my touch pad to click on an empty space on the web page before I'm able to go back to using my keyboard. It's the same each time I change to another tab on my personal opera portal pages and so it's getting really annoying (especially since I never use Google anyway) after a while. So I'd be happy if there was a way to get around this, taking focus away from the search bar or preferable get rid of the Google Search bar altogether? Thanks.

I'm using a 15" wide screen monitor so I feel that the mobile website is not the right solution for me. But it might be a good solution for others with a similar problem so thanks for your suggestion. smile

I just feel the search bar is pretty redundant since we already can search from within the Opera browser's own address bar or the extra search field next to it (which is also common on other browsers as well). So why a third search option on the website itself which does nothing else but taking up valuable screen estate!?

Not all Portal users would have a desktop version of Opera - they may have a tablet or phone, or may not even be using Opera at the moment.

I'm sure some sort of CSS could be used to hide it, or maybe userJS ...

Press F9, it's the default shortcut to set the focus on the page.

In IE, Firefox and Chromium search is also possible from the address bar so most desktop users are covered if they're not using Opera. As for tablets and phone devices (at least those I have experience with) all have a built-in search feature only one click away and on those devices a search bar taking up screen estate is an even bigger annoyance. Maybe they would be using the mobile pages of Portal instead though which don't contain the search bar. But I see your point and I didn't want to come across as me-me-me in the first place heheh. bigsmile
