XMLHttpRequest 2 only feature neccesary to get rid of iframes

XMLHttpRequest 2 is now really high on my wish-list for Opera. Essentially AJAX file uploads would negate the one and only need I've ever encountered for iframes. I don't want to redirect users to a whole new page just because they uploaded an avatar to my site.

Also support for the CSS resize property would be great! I can't tell you how many websites have 40x20 pixel sized textarea elements that drive me nuts on my 1920x1200 screen.

Those are the only two things I really want in Opera right now (please!) from a standards perspective. Besides those two small tidbits Opera is just awesome. heart

Opera never listened to this request but now it will start listening. Because XMLHttpRequest 2 requires CORS support, a feature not currently supported by Opera. Though now Opera aims to implement CORS support in Opera 12.00 by latest. This could mean that we most probably should see XHR 2 support in Opera anytime in the next 18 months.

Thank you for your reply. As a web designer/developer I know all about dependencies, just wasn't aware of the CORS dependency. Glad to hear that it will be in place in Opera 12 though!

CORS support is in Opera 12, not XHR 2 support. Though as per the last line of this blog post, Opera is planning to work on XHR 2 support soon after CORS support is included in a stable version of Opera.
