YouTube stop playing shortly after a clip start..
Hi,I have adsl2 connection and I can watch online streaming from everything such as CNTV(higher quality) and ChannelNewsAsia(lower quality) and moves from using Funshion without any buffering problem. So in general my internet connection is good and stable.
I can't recall when it started but for a few months now whenever I am watching clip from YouTube, YouTube will stream for 20 secs or 1 mins or 2 mins and then "pretend" to do the mouse cursor going round and round buffer, sometimes it will continue a bit and stop but mostly it will just stop dead and never resume playing the clip any further.
I have up to date version of flash installed.
I have used Internet Explorer and FireFox with same problem. I look up the net and some say it is Optus(my ISP) throttling YouTube(which I doubt) and other saying it's YouTube itself.
Anyone with this problem and know how to resolve this?
Thanks.
Irene
Thanks gdveggie, I will give it a try when I get home by taking the hardware acceleration off setting.
However, I failed to mentioned in my initial post I don't really seemed to have this problem in the from 2am-12noon.
I have also tried to revert back to an earlier version of flash player installation but then when trying to view certain youtube, it said to update to new version before I can watch the clip.
Let me try the disable hardware acceleration and see how it goes first and will report back thereafter.
Thanks you.

Hi,
Unchecking the hardware acceleration setting box didn't change anything. Youtube clip still stopped after 20 secs or 1 mins or 2 mins after I started play some clips.
Normally, come peak night hours 7pm onward till 12 midnight, http://english.cntv.cn/live/ will play choppy but tonight http://english.cntv.cn/live/ is playing flawlessly with everything else but youtube. So my internet connect in general is not in question. It's just youtube.
If reverting to an older version of flash player will play all Youtube clips I will be more than happy to do so. I tried this method before and remember when trying to view some clips it demand me to upgrade to later/latest version of flash. :-(
Here is the specs on the PC that I am using but I use two other PC of different builds and all have problem with Youtube. So I further do not think the issue lie with any of my PC.

I still have this problem but it seemed be around 8pm each night, I know my internet connection has no problem doing everything else including watching movies in funshion. Would it be a Youtube and/or Optus problem with Youtube viewers?
YouTube is coded to utilize the hardware acceleration implemented in Adobe Flash Player beginning with v10.2, and many other video sources do not yet implement this feature. The hardware acceleration feature is not yet playing nicely with all systems, and many older systems are not even capable of utilizing it. Since you're having problems only on YouTube, and similar problems with IE and FF, it seems reasonable to think it has something to do with Flash Player, and hardware acceleration is the most likely candidate. It is very easy to find out by simply disabling the feature:
Right-click on the Flash Player application on any website (e.g., YouTube), choose "Settings" from the right-click context menu, and un-check "Enable hardware acceleration"
If that takes care of, you're good to go (and I would speculate that the problems began with a recent Adobe Flash Player update). But some have had to revert to earlier Flash Player versions and/or update video drivers.
If that doesn't take care of it, please post back with specific details about your hardware (CPU, RAM, video card), operating system, Opera version, Flash Player version ("up-to-date" is not specific enough
...see here if you don't know), and any UserJS, plugins, or extensions you have installed.
