Opera usb can't get past proxy server

At one site where I work a few times a week, system admins like to keep the PCs locked tight. As I prefer to use Opera instead of IE7, I thought I'd use Opera USB. It starts up fine, but as soon as I try to do anything, it asks for a login to the proxy server. I've tried giving Opera the same proxy settings as IE, but still no joy.

As a further insult, a couple of PCs are not locked as tightly and I've been able to install Firefox on them. It gets deleted on every reboot of the PC, but when installed it works just fine.

Is there anything I can do to make Opera USB work in this environment?

No answers, so it looks as if there is no way out.

Funny though, why would it make a difference whether a program runs from USB or from C:? Firefox has no problems with the proxy.

BTW, I tried installing Opera on C:, but the PC tells me I need admin permissions. Firefox can install without that.
