How to uncorrupt mail folder? Reindex perhaps? Crashing all the ime (especially on exit)!

I get a crash from Opera every time I close it, and sometimes at other times too. It still does it with a fresh install on a new computer of Opera Next. So I am assuming it is the mail folder which is corrupt. Is there an easy way to uncorrupt it? Some kind of reindexing etc?

If the indexer is messed up or the database is messed up, there's only one way to fix it and that's <http://operawiki.info/ImportFromBadMailFolder>.

Well I think all that has already been done when I followed your advice for transferring mail to a new computer, so maybe the problem isn't with the mail database after all. What else would cause Opera to crash every single time I close it? Same thing has happened with latest version and with next. I am running 64 bit windows seven, and before that 64 bit windows vista. Is the 64bit what's doing it?

Are you using the new 11.60 mail build from the desktop team blog? If so, I think there's a crash on close bug with that build. If so, did you mistakenly install it over an Opera Next build?

Not sure what you mean. I just installed Next and nothing else, then imported the mail folders from the old machine which had the latest release version on it.

O.K. It could be a few other things (like autosave.win in the sessions folder). But, if you used a fresh profile and only copied over your mail folder, I'd imagine the problem is in the mail folder.

Can you confirm that build 1116 doesn't crash on close (in a standalone installation) without your mail folder?

Shouldn't cause any problems.

I copied my profile too, forgot to mention that.

Can I just move my mail folder out of the way with Opera shut, run Opera and test for a crash, then put the mail folder back without losing any emails or settings?

You should be able to at least. But, backup contacts.adr first. And replace the new contacts.adr with the backup when you put the mail folder back. (Just in case the ids for the contacts get changed by the new mail folder that's created.)

It still crashes with the mail folder away. I must have something corrupt in my profile - next suggestion please!

Delete autosave.win in the sessions folder. If you're loading a saved session at startup, maybe delete it too.

Delete the cache, opcache and temporary_downloads folders.

Maybe it's a browser plug-in or extension.

Maybe it's your customized toolbars. Try switching to "Opera Standard" to see if the problem goes away.

Maybe it's anti-virus software-related. You can install to a folder on your desktop using "standalone installation" to see if it still does it with a new profile.

Deleted everything requested and I thought the problem had gone away. But it now crashes if I have the cursor in this quick reply box I'm typing in right now and close Opera. If this very page is open but I have not clicked in the box to answer you, it does not crash.

Repeated the crash several times and also repeated the not crash several times.
