Menu keeps popping up

The menu at the top left of the browser keeps popping up similar to when the ALT button is pressed.
Not sure if this is an Opera, Ubuntu, or hardware issue.

Is there anyway to find out?

Happened in my Ubuntu 11.04 and 11.10, but never seen it in my older Linux installations on another laptop.

Just to add. Don't see the same problem when dual-booting into Windows7.

No ... if the menu bar is off then tapping (pressing and releasing) Alt should display the dropdown menu. He says that his menu is appearing even without tapping Alt.

Yup, it's a bit strange and more than a tad irritating.

The browser window or input text boxes also seem to lose focus every so often and I've to click on the address bar and then click in the text boxes again before I can type or use the keyboard to control scrolling as well.

Don't seem to have a similar problem with other browsers so far, so I'm bit perplexed by this. I tried recording keystrokes but nothing seems to have been pressed to cause this.

Would appreciate any suggestions.

Apparently then don't use totem plugin for viewing videos. sad

Actually I use vlc, but there's a few types it doesn't handle well. Maybe mplayer then?

Thanks. I guess that solves part of the mystery.

Still wondering why the text box always loses focus as well. Although that seems to have reduced recently.
