Away to Bck up Opera files the ... the easy way

Simple bat file for backup theres got to be one around here besides http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=925391 which is not a bat file. I just need a simple bat file that saves my bookmarks contacts account.ini and operaprefs.ini files so I can save my stuff. There must be a simple bat file on the board ... oh yea is there one that will date the folders.

AndreLi,

Hi,

I use Stu's Opera Settings Import & Export Tool which I find backs up
pretty everything except extensions in the newer Opera builds.
You can get it here http://my.opera.com/Disco%20Stu/blog/opera-settings-import-export-tool

cheers

Here's the text for a batch file I use on this Windows 7 system for backing up Opera's data files (plus some others that I want to preserve). Because there are two Opera versions installed on this system (Opera 10.63 and 11.52) and there are two user accounts (here shown as "username1" and "username2") able to run each Opera version, the program backs up both Opera version subfolders (and all files/folders beneath) from both "username" roaming subfolders on the main C: drive into a backup folder path on a separate drive (J: drive). It also backs up both Opera plug-in folders from the main Opera installations at C:\Program Files (x86) of this system. This provides me with a backup of virtually every Opera personal folder and special Opera folders/files that I use or might have ever downloaded custom files into for these installations.

This particular backup program only copies altered or added files to the backup set; it does not remove any "deleted" files from the backup set if they should happen to manually removed from an Opera installation.

You would, of course, have to copy it to Notepad and customize/edit its file paths/names to fit your Windows version, user account name(s), and backup drive/folder paths. Simply modify the file as needed, save it as a *.bat file (such as OperaBack.bat), and create a desktop shortcut to the saved file. Then merely double-click the desktop shortcut icon as needed to update your backup set with your current Opera personal files.

Opera 12.14u (1738), 11.52 (1100) & 10.63 (3576) running on various Windows systems from Win7-64 down through KernelEx4-modified Win98FE (proof that reports of Win98's demise are greatly exaggerated).
