[suggestion]option: merge search with address bar
this suggestion actually consists of several changes i'd like to see.1: an option in settings to fully merge the search and address bars.
right now you can enter keywords into the address bar and it searches using the default search engine.
with this option turned on the search bar should be completely removed
and all search engines should be accessible through the address bar.
2: for that to work i have another suggestion: add keyword searches like on the desktop version of opera.
allow people to assign a letter or keyword to every search engine to make it easier to search with the right search engine.
for example typing in the address bar: "g cookies" could give a google page listing all sites about cookies.
"w cakes" could give a wikipedia page about cakes
and "nds new super mario brothers" to open a gamefaqs.com search in the NDS section for the game "new super mario brothers"
i find this works great in the desktop browser, and with a large amount of configured search engines should be a lot quicker than scrolling through a big list of search engines that spans 3 screen heights.
3: let the search button some phones have access the address bar instead of the search bar(perhaps only if the bars are merged)
it's quite uncomfortable to reach all the way to the top of a 4.3" or larger phone screen with your thumb all the time, being able to press the search button like on the default browser for this would make it a lot easier.
4: get rid of the hard-coded "www." in the address bar.
most sites open fine without www. in front of the domain name.
some sites even fail to open if you add www.
and there are plenty of different subdomains that sites use like mail. forum. www2. or like this forum does: my.
having to hold backspace for several seconds before entering a URL is quite annoying, and i know of no other browser that does this.
1: +1 (also in Desktop Browser, preferably)
2: +1
3: only if the bars are merged, and if www. is gotten rid of
4: I live in Denmark, and (by strange reasons), most webpages regarding the Public (libraries, governmental websites, schools, and even the biggest bank of Denmark cannot be opened without entering 'www." as a preffix. - Can anyone explain me why this is??? - and can one make a javascript/etc. in order to avoid this??
