Do you stack your tabs manually?

I am just curious about how many people are really using the tab-stacking feature in Opera.

I always keep two mail tabs pinned and stacked — stacking prevents pinned tabs from collapsing. I rarely stack other tabs since I don't often open more than ten. If I did, I would stack them to keep the tab bar tidy.

I used to, but then gave up when I realized it was too much trouble to keep dragging newly opened tabs into the stack. If *new* tabs opened *in* the Stack, then I may consider using it (it is handy to keep tabs from different domains in one pile...).

Another reason I don't like it is because if a stack is collapsed, then using the tab-switch hotkey (1 or 2, not Ctrl+(Shift+)Tab to cycle) will only switch through the TOP-MOST tab of the stack, which is a behaviour I don't want. So, in short, it's a nice idea, but the implementation is *sorely* lacking at the moment.

I don't use stack tab anymore, but I keep stacking tabs by accident when reorder tab.
Does that count as Yes, No, or Sometimes?

I'd say that's a "No" since you didn't intend to do it p.

If you show the tab list, you can switch to any tab in any stack using Ctrl + Tab or Ctrl + Shift + Tab.

That's correct, which is why I'm saying that applies only to 1 and 2 hotkeys, not Ctrl+(Shift+)Tab, which will cycle and allow access to any tab in the stack. However, I rarely use Ctrl+(Shift+)Tab, I simply rely on 1 and 2 smile.

Ctrl + Tab is a much more widely used shortcut than 1,2 for switching tab. It works for cycling tabs in PDF-XChange and many other programs that use a tabbed interface. It also works in Opera's tabbed dialogues — 1 and 2 do not.

Yes, that's true. I use Ctrl + Tab in every other software (that support it, of course), but when in Opera, it's 1 and 2 for me smile!

Yep, and I do it heavily. Email, Facebook and Google Voice are usually pinned and stacked together, and other tabs stack by domain or by research needs. I often open more than 10 tabs a time, so stacking is a must to me. But malfunctioning stacking behaviour really is a headache to me... I truly hope stacking function will be fixed as soon as possible.

I'm quite annoyed by the stacking behaviour as well... For one, it's almost impossible to move a tab without stacking it. But the most annoying is that sometimes it's even impossible, try stacking the first two tabs.
At best, it's incredibly un-intuitive... :-(

Hm... I think I'll have to take that back.

Normally I have my tab bar on the left. As a test, I tried moving it to the bottom. Stacking the first two worked like a charm now! The behaviour was completely different from before (for example the tab under the tab during the stack attempt now turns dark or swapped between tab position 0 and 1 depending on where the tab I was dragging was in relation to it. Before, it drew a dashed line between tabs and/or the mouse cursor got "+".

Anyway, I switched back to have the bar on the left, and it still works! Somehow, I must've had an "old" tab bar in my config... if that's even possible.
