Opera re-downloads pages after inactivity
I've found that if you switch to and use some other apps, or put the phone in standby for a while, then go back to Opera Mobile, it actually has to re-download the page you were viewing from the net. Depending on your connection speed, this can take a while - you may even be in a dead zone when you switch back.It would be better if Opera kept the current page in RAM or wrote it to storage when you switch to other apps, so it doesn't have to be re-downloaded every time you switch back.
I'm running 11.5 on the LG Optimus 2X with Android 2.3.4.
I too have this issue, or rather have an issue with the way things currently are.
I can understand why the app would do this if say it had been hours or days between uses; why waste storage space when Opera isn't being used. However, if I am browsing on a website, and I get a txt message or a phone call, and need to temporally "tab out" of Opera, even if for something as short as 5 seconds, why on earth would the app not remember the site? I have accedently hit the return key on the bottom of my phone a few too many times before and "closed" the app for literally les than a second and Opera has to reload the site.
This is an issue when I'm filling out a form and need to check my email for a time or a date and I have to start all over again.
I have Opera 11.5ADR-1111021303 on an LG Revolution running Android 2.3.4.

I agree. This is the typical usage pattern of smartphones - you constantly switch between apps, take calls, write text messages etc. It's not like a computer where you sometimes spend hours within the same applications. Android applications are not supposed to "exit" when you switch from them, that's one of the strengths of the Android OS. From what I understand, an application might sort of "hibernate" if you haven't used it for a while, but they're supposed to come back exactly as you left them when you go back.
Also, it seems Opera sometimes doesn't even reload my previously open tabs when I switch back. A few times now when switching back to Opera after a period of inactivity, I've been greeted by just the start page instead of the 4-5 tabs I might have left open.
It's such a shame. The speed, text reflow, navigation and user interface of Opera Mobile are the best of any Android browser I've tried. But these annoying issues make it very hard to switch to it as my primary browser.

If you close the app naturally you'll have to reload. RAM is a valuable resource on android devices, you'd be more upset if opera reserved RAM while inactive. I've never had opera reload a page as long as I leave it running in the background. Are y'all running an app killer that kills your inactive apps or something?
I agree. No, I do not use any task killers. I have been looking for solution for some time already. This behavior is so annoying. I am logged into 4 websites for example, doing some checking in other app, coming back after 10mins and:
- opera opens fresh session, no tabs open - very annoying
- opera opens and RELOADS all tabs i touch! - very annoying
The worse is - in each case I must relogin to all my web services (my web pages I have open need authorisation), and navigate then to the places I was. It is happening even after leaving my phone idle for 10mins!
So far I was unable to find solution. I want some option to keep Opera in memory and (the best case) 100% working all the time! Even if in background I want it to reload pages etc if necessary... But the most important - not to reload / log off / lose tabs!

I tested this more and it is related to RAM and how the OS handles inactive (background) apps. It seemed to relate to having multiple tabs. Or really taking up a lot of memory. When you activate another app that requires the memory the one in the way gets killed, basically. Maybe an appkiller or task mgr would be useful. You need to either make Opera 'force persist' or kill other apps that randomly pop up. I just use a widget to clear background apps before I do anything drastic on my phone, I guess that help cause I haven't had any trouble until I stressed the phone with many apps running. I can totally see how that'd be aggravating tho.
Yes, I have been reading a little more, seems it is not really possible to expect real multitasking with Android... There are services and some similar options, but not as we are used to know from other systems...
I have been trying to change priority, switch cache to SD Card. (with these settings: http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=801122 )
It helps a little, as all cache structure is located on sd card and loaded from there on demand. Altho' found out my pages are checking constantly if client is still there, so I am being logged off anyway.
seems theres no solution for me unless some real multitasking is possible (like opera fully working in background, and responding page requests...)
