Opera Next - Bookmarks
I'm a bit confused as to where Opera Next (12.x) is storing it's bookmarks, as I have not enabled Opera Sync.I can export my bookmarks to an .adr file just fine. I can import bookmarks.
When I add a bookmark, Close Opera (Next), Restart - the changes are still there. Yet the file %APPDATA%\Opera\Opera Next\bookmarks.adr does NOT change.
If I delete the bookmarks.adr file, Close Opera, Restart --- my bookmarks are still in Opera.
If I delete all my bookmarks in Opera, close, restart: The bookmarks.adr file is still unchanged, and all the bookmarks in Opera are gone.
Opera 11.70 appears to use and modify the bookmarks.adr file as expected. So what is Opera Next doing...and where?
While trying to figure out how that happened, I found something that I didn't expect/know...
If you use Manage Bookmarks (Ctrl+Shift+B)
And choose "Open" (or "New") that will change the bookmark file save location.
Which doesn't really make sense, opening (appending bookmarks) or new (replace bookmarks) --- shouldn't change where the bookmarks will be saved. This misfeature will effectively overwrite what could very well be alternate/backup copies. A different command, editting the ini, or a setting in opera:config should be required to change where the bookmarks are actually saved... not merely opening an alternate file thru manage bookmarks.
Comparatively, importing bookmarks does not have such a side-effect.
