Managing bookmarks with Opera Link

1) Is there any secret command that would allow deleting (purging) all bookmarks from Opera Link server (assuming that you are logged-in to Opera Link account through the web browser). The only way to do it that I'm aware of is to delete bookmarks one by one, a time consuming process.

2) Is there a way to restrict the sync process to include Opera Mini bookmarks only, which would exclude bookmarks from Opera installed on the PC.

From what I see, when you turn on the sync in Opera on your PC, the following will happen:

A) All Opera Mini bookmarks will be copied from Opera Link server to Opera-on-PC and placed in a special bookmark folder named "Opera Mini". This process works just fine and is a great feature.

B) All bookmarks that are in Opera-on-PC will be copied to Opera Link server. This process doesn't seem to work properly and I would like to turn it off.

I have tested Opera Link with a few accounts, and have noticed the following:

a) Opera Mini bookmarks were always copied properly (from BlackBerry to Opera Link server to Opera-on-PC).

b) Opera-on-PC bookmarks would not transfer properly to Opera Link server half of the time. On occasion when they do transfer properly, the transfer process takes half an hour or more on 2.5 meg DSL connection.

It seems that Opera Link is not designed for transferring a thousand or more bookmarks and gets bogged down. Providing the option to restrict the sync only to Opera Mini bookmarks (and Speed Dials) would at least reduce server load.

Because no one has offered answers to my questions, here are some workaround solutions.

A-1) You can purge all bookmarks from Opera Link account as follows:

- backup the bookmarks in Opera-on-PC (file opera6.adr)
- sync Opera-on-PC to Opera Link
- delete all bookmark folders slowly, one by one
- turn off the sync and restore the original bookmarks from the backup

A-2) To restrict the sync only to Opera Mini bookmarks, you would need to create a custom "opera6.adr" file which only includes OM bookmarks, and then sync to Opera Link.

In general, when playing around with "opera6.adr" files, you need to remember to exit Opera before you overwrite this file, otherwise it will get corrupted. You can append different sets of bookmarks from custom "opera6.adr" files in Opera using "import bookmarks" commands.

Because of bugs and inconsistencies with Opera Link, I decided to never have it synced to my "real" bookmarks in Opera-on-PC, and sync it to "surrogate" bookmarks instead.
