MyOpera mail beta - bugs

Hi all, after having reported several bugs here : http://my.opera.com/mailteam/blog/2011/09/08/some-of-the-new-stuff?cid=74476292 , I'll do it here now.

I saw a few days ago tha the Rich Text Format is now possible in Opera Mail : great !
But if I activate it in my settings, the RTF format is activated only until I close the tab.
When I reconnect to OperaMail, the « compose an email » does no longer have the RTF possibilities, until I re-activate it again in the settings.

Maybe, the seetings are saved temporarely with cookies, but not in the users-data-base ?

(PS : I will continu updating this thread with bugs I discover)

Like to see the email width bug fixed.

Maybe you better change the name of the thread to MyOpera mail beta bugs to avoid confusion with the the Operamail.com service.

Thanks for the reports! smile

ti-mo: Rich text editing is still in its early stages. You should expect to see the bugs ironed out shortly smile

sbekius: An appropriate width for HTML emails is something we are discussing here at Opera HQ. Unfortunately, it's not quite as simple as "just make it fit", especially on smaller screens. For the time being, please use the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the message.
Please do not email me directly unless requested to do so. Thanks!

Ok !

For the images that get out of the window, I do not know how you will proceed, but with some CSS and a one line of JavaScript, you can resize the image to not get out of their container :

CSS :
/* Avoids any image to get out of its container */
img {
max-width: 100%;
}

And of course, the "width" and "height" that should be given with the real size of the images.
But now, the image can be horizontally compressed, so it must be resized vertically also. That's when the JavaScript can be used to resize the height of the images by computing the image actual-height:
actual height = actual-Height × real-width / real height

(I am not a keen on JavaScript, but I think this can work.)

Ok, just to mention that the rich text email seems crashing Opera 11.60 (upgraded this morning).

It's actually a more a freezing or a hanging than a crash, because nothing responds and I am forced to kill Opera task :-/
I am switching back to the plain text version.

In addition, I don't know what exactly causes that freezing, but the font-face in the mail seems totaly blured (with to much sub-pixel rendering).
I'll join a screenshot : http://www.zupmage.eu/up/1323263902.png

(When I opened the "font-face" menu, it froze…)
(The blured text is below)

Hi ti-mo,
We are aware of an issue causing the rich text editor to crash Opera 11.6, and hope to resolve it shortly. In the mean time, switching back to plain text should serve as a workaround. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Do you experience font blurring anywhere else in Opera?
Please do not email me directly unless requested to do so. Thanks!

Re

When I have a mail@myopera tab open, and when I close and re-open Opera Browser, a popup asking for login/password opens. It's okay.
But there is no « remember » checkbox, as there is on the myopera page.

I'll show you with a screenshot :
Here there is one checkbox : http://www.zupmage.eu/up/1325196770.png
But not here : http://www.zupmage.eu/up/1325196782.png

May be nice if there was one :-).

Oh, yep, I wanna ask : why is the "send" button (to send the email, after having written it) not usable by the Tab button (on the keyboard)?
I use to use the tab button and the Enter button everywhere in forms, but it's not availlable in mail@myopera.

Any reason for that?

Hi, here is another one : make the search form search in all folders, not only in the current folder.

Another issue : with pop/imap :

I use iOS and Android to send and receive emails.
But when I send an email using that system, the send messages are not in the "sent_items" folder, but in a "sent" folder.

With that, I get many folders. Wouldn’t it be better that emails send over POP/IMAP connections are placed in the same folder as when I use the webmail ?

EDIT : Same problem with "deleted_messages".

Thanks !

By the way : the problem with the Rich Text Format in Opera Browser seems solved now smile.

Here is another bug.
Even when I have the option "When I email a new person, save the address to my contacts so that it will auto-complete next time" turned off, it nevertheless seems that My Opera Mail keeps adding new addresses to my contacts. It would be nice if this can get fixed, as I like control and manage the contact list. whistle

I really find the email service fantastic though! Keep up the brilliant work and looking forward to further improvements wink

That idea seems to be added, nice !
But it doesn't work here : I still have to retype my password/login every time.
(and the checkbox is not usable by keyboard navigation, with the tab button. Maybe a html attribute "tabindex=""" missing ?)

Thanks ! Opera Mails is better and better !
