Please add support for "Search in new tab"

If I right click a word and want to search this word with a search engine such as google, I want it to be able to open in a new tab instead of the current one, just the way as I click the scrollwheel to open a link in a new tab. I share this opinion with atleast 2 of my opera-using friends so I doubt we are the only one.
I know this is a stupid request, but I really would like to have this feature to speed up browsing.

Anyway, Thank you for the all time best browser and I hope in the future you will add this option.

Kind regards.

I think this isn't very hard to implement, and it would be very handy.

If you untick "Reuse current tab" in Tools - Preferences - Advanced - Tabs, the search will open in a new tab automatically.

Use Shift+Click.

Would there be a way to open just the searches from the context menu in a new tab, leaving 'reuse current tab' checked?

What I actually meant to say is: why isn't there a way to open just the searches from the context menu in a new tab, leaving 'reuse current tab' checked and without using the keyboard. Actions for normal links can be tailored using gestures and tab settings, I rarely need the keyboard here.
For searches there are just tab settings - I invariably need the keyboard for these.

You would need to edit your menu . You could add following menu item to your context menu:
[Hotclick Popup Menu]
Item, "Search Google in new tab"=New page & Focus address field & Insert, "g "& Paste mouse selection & Select all & Paste mouse selection and go

("Focus address field" could be omitted here, but I prefer it for clarity. Makes it also easier to adapt the code for same tab searches: Just delete "New page &")
What is does: It opens a new page and puts the selected search string, preceded by the search engine keyword ("g" in case of Google), into the address field and executes the search. Does not use the clipboard.
Apart form forcing the search to be executed in a new page, this approach is different from the default "Search" menu item.

Advantage: The search will be listed in the 'typed history' (dropdown list of the address field, Alt+Down), so can be reused or edited later.

Disadvantage: While the default "Search" menu item will use the last used search engine ("Search with..."), above code is hardcoded to use a specific search engine. Some users might see this as an advantage.

Thanks mochikun,

Sounds very promising, I'm going to experiment with this tonight, looks like I can shorten my search list this way. May I ask if there is a place where one can look up things like these?
