Navigate to webpage/bookmark using keywords in address bar.

I visit certain websites often, and I visit certain webpages very often.

I would like it so that when I want to navigate to a page, I can open the address bar (that I use by keyboard shortcuts), and enter just a couple of letters and press enter to navigate to the website.

For example, to navigate to to Gmail, all I have to do is open the address bar, enter the letters 'gm', press enter, and the page is automatically loaded and opened to my inbox.

I tried to set something up using a modified search but it wouldn't allow for it of course.

The only drawback for entering 'keyword' bookmarks in the address bar is that it will interfere with the default search engine.

The address bar works in three ways:

It looks for a url and proceeds to such address {url}=url.

It looks for a keyword and and search term and proceeds to search for a term using the keyword association[keywordsearch syntax]=search syntax using specified search field.

If the syntax doesn't match the two above conditions, it uses the default search engine to search [syntax]=default search.

I would like an option for [keyword]=go to bookmarked page. This would interfere with [syntax]=default search, but my default search is google of which by habit I always enter 'g' before whatever I'm searching for.

This could be a problem for example if someone created a cars=[keyword]=go to bookmarked page and a situation arose where someone wanted to search for 'cars' using the default search engine, but in my case it wouldn't be an issue because I normally enter 'g cars' natrually by habit which of course searches for 'cars' using google.

In effect, you are removing the condition of [syntax]=default search which is fine by me because I use that condition very infrequently.

I've tested an alternative using [#] which causes [#]=Speeddial but then I have to remember where each page is on the speeddial. I'd prefer the ability to use letters since I can make letters more 'intrinsic' to where I want to go. For example, it's easier for me to remember [hm]=hotmail.com instead of [13]=hotmail.com, and also, I'm a touch typist when it comes to letters, but not numbers.

If you find this useful, please vote for it and forward it to anyone you think would give it more traction.

I think that it would make people much more efficient in navigating webpages.

Already present ... ever hear of nicknames? Go to Manage Bookmarks or the Bookmarks panel, right-click on a bookmark and select Properties and assign it a nickname. When you type that nickname into the address bar, Opera will go to that bookmark.

This is really great.

I'm wondering if there is any similar for Sessions? Or if there is the option of using nicknames to enable "open all in folder"

Folders can also have a nickname. Not quite the same as a session though.

Sessions Drag the link to create a button on the address bar. Click to open a file; hold to show your sessions menu.
