Limit how many mail Opera fetch

Is there any way to limit how many mail Opera fetches? Such as fetch only the first 100?

My inbox is quite full and the last time I used the built in mail client it took days to for it to finally finish fetching all of the mail.

Only for Newsgroups. But, if you use IMAP instead of POP, Opera only fetches the headers for messages by default. It doesn't fetch the whole message until you open it. There's also low-bandwidth mode that you can enable.

Also, if your IMAP server supports <http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5162>, less data will need to be sent/received.
