Blank pop-outs

Firstly this is apparently not an Opera issue but more of a KDE problem so I'm sorry to bug you with this

I have recently upgraded to the KDE 4.7 desktop environment and all is working well apart from I can't see the text in those "mouse-over" pop-outs in Opera (those small labels that appear when the cursor runs over an Icon). The labels pop out ok, but the text is very pale - see attached snap-shot.

This does not happen if I change my login account to another user name (a new profile), nor does it happen as "root". I tried re-installing Opera and also have just upgraded to a new 11.60 Beta, problem persists. It seems to be a skin problem but I don't know how to correct this. I've changed the skin and it works but not on the deafult classic skin.

Version 11.60 beta
Build 1147
Platform Linux
System i686, 2.6.40.8-4.fc15.i686.PAE
Desktop - KDE SC Version: 4.7.3

Snapshot?

You can upload the file to your Files area (see the wrench icon above) and then attach it to a post here.

Having said that ... I have a somewhat unusual theme in KDE myself, as a result non-KDE apps (not just Opera) seem to end up showing tooltips (also called "hints") as black on black and completely unreadable. Most of the time I don't really need tooltips anyway and just ignore it, though I could fine-tune the theme a bit and fix it if it really bothers me (which I may eventually end up doing). (In KDE apps, the tooltips are light colored text on black.)

Could this thread be helpful?

Opera can't quite handle KDE or Gnome system colors well and that sometimes results in unreadable text. So, switching off KDE or Gnome colors sometimes helps.

Hi, thanks for the comments ....

This issue was only presented after the last KDE upgrade to 4.7.3 - it was fine before ....
I've just upgraded to Fedora 16 with new KDE updates - same problem.
I guess I'm going to have to get used to another skin....

Odd it's fine on another user acct with KDE (same pc) ?

See attachment (very pale blue on white) - Opera Classic

I wouldn't actually expect any change there, but you might try the later snapshot ...

Edit: or actually the new one today ...
