Web Address Blocked - but how to unblock?
Sometimes, especially at redirect-sites, I get this error saying "Web Address Blocked", even though I consciously clicked a link (in which case blockage is never neccesary, IMO)It also says: To undo the block, right-click on the page, select "Block Content", and click the "Details" button to edit the list of blocked content.
But after the "Details" button, nothing is listed. So, how do I unblock an address that isn't listed as a blocked address??
Using Opera 11.52 on Windows 7 x64 SP1.
I recall having an occasional bug a few versions back were random sites told me they were blocked like that when they in fact weren't in the block list, and for that reason they didn't show up in the "details" button as you describe. You can find the full blocked list in Prefs > Advanced > Content > Blocked Content.
I seem to recall that because it wasn't actually listed in the blocked content list I couldn't remove it, and the only solution I found was just to delete the entire list (obviously not ideal). Maybe you can then try replacing the blocked list from a backup or previous version after the page appears unblocked (%AppData%\Opera\Opera\urlfilter.ini). Perhaps also try disabling blocked content sync with Opera Link if you have it enabled, I have a feeling that could have been related, though I'm not sure.
Sorry I can't be more help or remember what the eventual solution was (if there was one) as it was a while ago, it may have happened in some preview versions of 11.x.

So there's another list
Isn't this something the dev team should fix? Either change the message (because it does help / it's not telling the truth) or change the way you can unblock such addresses. Or an easy way to access the entire list if it cannot be found in the details list. Anything, as long as it works a little bit more as one would expect

From the adblock extension preferences:
Exceptions
The current extension API doesn't allow extensions to add exceptions directly. To exclude a website manually from Opera AdBlock, you have to disable content blocking for that page in Opera's preferences. This can be useful when a website is broken because of Opera AdBlock.
Instructions
Open the website on which you want to see ads on
Right click on the page
Click on “Edit site preferences...”
Open the “Content” tab
Uncheck “Enable content blocking”

But it should, no?
The message clearly says I should go to details, but it isn't there. So either the message should be changed into something that's actually correct, or the address should show up as promised by the message.
I don't have the adblock extension, btw. I do have Ghostery, but disabling it doesn't help.

hi there,
I'm having exactly the same problem with Opera on Windows (work) and Linux (home). Interestingly I'm also using Ghostery on both.
Maybe this is the culprit...
Edit:
I just deactivated Ghostery and the Websites in question weren't blocked anymore. Seems to be a problem with Ghostery. Maybe you should check this again?

It's hard to find blocked websites when you're trying to find an error
I found this note in the Ghostery blocking options:
"To exempt a site from blocking, right-click somewhere on the site, click "Edit Site Preferences...", go to the "Content" tab and uncheck "Enable content blocking". Note that since Ghostery is currently unable to determine site exemption status, it will incorrectly report selected bugs as blocked on exempt sites."
Maybe it helps...

Hi everyone, here is my (partial) solution:
#############################################################################
This was my original posting - but it seems to be "wrong"/"not working" (the way i thought).
#############################################################################
I encountered the same problem using auctionsieve to find ebay-articles. When pressing "view" in auctionsieve, a new tab should open in Opera displaying the article. Instead i received the "Web Address Blocked" message (with rover.ebay.com/rover ......) as the blocked address. nor any wildcard-combination showed in blocked sites.
Checking all above methods did not lead to different - say: positive - results
I actually install Ghostery a view days ago and "accepted" and activated the "blocking list".
Part of that blocking-list is "ebay stat". I removed the blocking of this "site" and the pages called by auctionsieve open normally.
[what i did: Menu -> Tools -> Extensions -> Manage Extensions -> clicked on the tool-sign in the Ghostery line,
navigated to the "Blocking Options" scrolled thru the list and deselected the . Done.
Does that help anybody?
############################################################################
original posting:
You may try the following "solution" ... but i think the above approach was the real remedy !
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Menu: Tools -> Preferences -> Tab: Advanced -> Content -> Button:
Here "rover.ebay.com" could be found. So i decided to edit the site preferences (which will open a new window):
Tab: Content -> deselect "enable content blocking" -> OK
(Rem: i restarted Opera to be sure - this step may not be needed)
And i/Opera was fine
.
Maybe you try to delete the site that bothers you from the "Manage Site Preferences"-list instead ?
Remark to developers: rover-pages are "redirect"-pages in my understanding ... so i was not able to set any "Site Preferences" or deliberately block any contents from there ...
Hope this works for you ...

thank you - i found the "ebay stat" that was it - actually really bad failure. i was blaming opera - it definetely has to state "blocked by extension" or similar. otherwise people might get angry.

Ok, I've cleared out the urlfilter.ini excludes section, and I'm still getting this problem. What's more, I've unchecked "enable content blocking" in the site preferences.
This really seems like a bug to me.
I do have Ghostery installed, and it is a facebook page, and yes Ghostery is blocking Fabeook bugs, but Ghostery won't block entire pages, only elements on pages.

...guess I'll quote the manually, since the Forums 'Quote' button doesn't work (and neither does the 'quick quote' button) - couldn't be my Opera browser....

Perhaps it wasn't as well known to "most" users back in late 2011, when that quote was actually posted...
