tilde character (~) does not work on password field

Hello,

I've noticed that if I try to use a password that has a tilde in it (example: abc~123), it only works if I copy/paste the password (or only the tilde character and fill in the remaing characters ).

I've also noticed the following, which is a simple way to also reproduce and verifying the problem:

. Install extension show/hide passwords;
. On a web page requiring a password try writing the tilde on the password field ( ~ key + [space] key - that is the way to insert a tilde character)
. Click the show password, and the field show a space instead of the tilde character.
. Try inserting while showing the password and it works

On windows it works without a problem. Tested this on Fedora and Ubuntu, but I believe it to be something with the *nix version of Opera.

What keyboard layout do you use and do you have an IME installed?

I'd also like the output from:

setxkbmap -print

and

echo $XMODIFIERS

P.S. the problem is actually that dead keys do not work in password fields. So some people will be able to type a ~. It depends entirely on your keyboard layout and if you need to use a dead key to type this character.
