Wahoo returns (12.00 build 1155)

Taking all the fixes since 1116 (which were in the 11.60 line) and bringing them back to 12.00, we have a new version for you to test. Yes, this is an Opera Next build, it has hardware acceleration and theme support, but it also has the new Mail UI and all the different fixes that were in 1150. (They didn't include a real changelog, just says "All the fixes from 11.60, and stability improvements for hardware acceleration.)

This snapshot also contains some minor HWA stability fixes - as mentioned in the changelog.
Windows 7 SP1 x86 edition and Windows XP Service Pack 3.

the view setting in the mail window is unusable. i click it, the browser window (appears to) loses focus but no pop up menu appears. it only shows up if i click anywhere else on the screen and the menu fades away, meaning i cannot do anything. even clicking on an apparent option does nothing.

in the meantime, is there an option in opera config to have the m2 screen with messages on top and the message body on the bottom? my panels are always turned on and expanded. this new setup for mail is similar to having 3 colums displayed.

also, opera 7 era themes/skins remain broken- my menu commands have a transparent background while the rest of the toolbars have opaque backgrounds. this has been an issue since opera 11, and something i had brought up in beta and rc threads that has never been addressed.

Nvidia graphics? I and one other user have mentioned this issue before (with the address bar dropdown), the only obvious thing we have in common is nvidia graphics on our systems. Otherwise I have XP SP3.

Incidentally, I was - eventually - able to navigate through the invisible palette using the keyboard (tab and arrow keys) to choose the settings I wanted, but it is not fun. irked

i believe so. this would be the first graphics related problem with respect to a gui i have had with this machine and i bought this computer about 2 years ago so i don't recall the exact specs. i checked my device manager and i do see some nvidia components listed as well as ati radeon components.

Check opera:gpu to see what Opera is using.

So much for that theory ... well, anyway it's reported. Do you have my same issue with the addressbar dropdown (presuming you haven't disabled it)? Click the dropdown arrow - it appears for maybe a second and then disappears. Alternatively click in the address field and start typing - the dropdown appears for a fraction of a second and then disappears.

nope dropdown works for me.

maybe you have one of those problems that is unique to you and a few others. i have had those before. opera 9 and its betas started generating tmp files from opr000 to oprfff for no reason and no one else had that issue, and then the issue just went away with no comment.

Oh, I recall that problem. In one of the snapshot builds it was pretty common. They got it mostly fixed, but there were still a couple of users who encountered it after that.

Well anyway, in my email I just had another report on your bug, involving a Radeon card. So yours isn't unique either. (That one is DSK-350513.)

Are you using Windows 8 Developer Preview? Or have you installed a Windows 8 Developer Preview Skin Pack for Windows 7/Windows Vista?

As already stated, HWA makes any fancy menu unusable (address field menu, search engine selector, mail wrench, etc.). They just disappear within a second. Moving the mouse over makes the menu flash for a bit and hide again.
The blurring isn't fixed either.

btw. the copy/paste from internal Opera pages like opera:gpu or opera:about splits each original line to two lines. After some investigation, i found out this is the normal representation for the <DL>, <DT>, <DD> tags used in these pages. Maybe implement the commonly copied lists in another way to make it easier for the reporters?

Also, the "Find more skins" button opens the themes gallery - it took me some clicking until i find the skins gallery... You should either put a separate button for each or make both galleries link to each other.
All of the above was on a clean test install.

My main Opera install now crashes on quit almost every time. I even got a crash loop so i had to resort to killing its process tree. Not nice...
Additionally, the upgrade replaced my "Find in page" field again... Why does Opera hate in-page search so much?!
Also, i got a bunch of new, unwanted dials and bookmarks that quickly spread through Link...

On the bright side, the annoying Speed Dial bug seems fixed.

P.S. What is the new "region" folder for? More stuff to delete after each update?

edit:
This Flash related bug isn't fixed either...

Do i have to click "Yes" for each script now? On every page load?!

couple of annoying bugs here with the mail..

the sort by date button flashes up a menu but then it vanishes again so no idea what that does.

and it is convinced i have 275 unread mail when I dont, actually only about 3 unread mail, but when i go in my recieved folder, highlight about ten emails, mark them unread, and then read again it corrects itself.. till next time..

also i hope in final version there is the option for old mail interface if you want it. its all fine and dandy on the desktop and the new laptop but on the old laptop with its 15" monitor i effectively have three columns on the screen which is very innefficient spacewise.

The option for the old interface is there now. With the hidden menu you'll probably have to use the keyboard shortcut "I", but it should get you back to "List and message below" eventually.

Edit: just tested, doesn't quite work as desired. sad I had to edit the shortcut and remove the ", 2" on the end. After that it worked.

yeh, had to edit the shortcut here as well.

interestingly as it toggles through it doesnt revert to the new two column layout so be aware, once you go back to the old way, theres no going forward until they fix the button to change views

You could edit the shortcut again, though that gets tedious ... left

re-arranging the order of the menu works for me, although you lose the two column vertical version doing that. ho hum. bigsmile

Hardware acceleration slows down Opera too much and I also have the dropdown addressbar problem.
So hardware acceleration disabled for me.

I have a NVIDIA 8800GT card.

I just noticed something when you access an RSS feed: the only subscription choice is Opera. There used to be a list, including such things as Google Reader. How do I get those back?

Actually, the only one I want is Reader, but Opera never allowed you to default to anything aside from Opera, unless it was masterfully hidden. But at least there was a way to choose something else.

So when are we getting an update with the fixes.. Bit frustrating that some of the mail errors (mail settings, view settings, read mail problems) have been fixed in 11.60 beta but not in Opera next..

All us who have been testing opera next (i use it as my primary browser) have suddenly been booted down the fix pecking order because of a new beta that wasnt originally known. Bit frustrating.

Guess its back to opera 11.6 beta for me..

And yes, I know the speil, dont use it as your first browser etc.. but how can you test if you dont (and ive been using previews, alphas and betas of opera for as far back as I remember)
