Amazon’s marketplace / sellercentral

If you are a user of Amazon’s so called market place aka. seller central (or compte vendeur, seller account, etc.), you must have noticed that it doesn’t work with Opera.
However good news, they just shamefully wrote bad javascript code if they detect Opera.

Thus, the simple solution is just to Mask as Internet Explorer in the F12 menu > Site preferences for sellercentral.amazon.fr (or .de or .co.uk, etc.).

It works. Maybe I’ll report this to their webmaster because this is obviously an illegitimate browser detect code, once again.

edit : I eventually wrote to the french Amazon, I don’t know if they will read it or answer (._.?)

Compatibilité navigateurs “modernes”
Bonjour,
cf. http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=1152612
Merci d’avance,
Cordialement,
PATATE12.

edit 2 : their answer

Cher Vendeur,

It says they have optimised their website for Fiefrox and that one should use Fiefrox if one does not want to have problems. LOL.

Exactly the same for this week's amazon.co.uk's Black Friday Deals - thanks for the tip!

Amazon does this for almost all of their products(Seller Central, Cloud Player, Cloud Drive, Cloud Reader... the list goes on and on).

"Mask as Firefox" always works like a charm, but unfortunately none of my emails seem to be making an impact furious

Amazon's browser sniffing is certainly annoying. We have deployed some workarounds and also keep talking to them about it. Maybe some day things will change (hey, if we weren't optimists, Opera would never exist in the first place smile )..
