Buttons not sticking in mail

The two buttons on the top right of each mail panel are not staying open. I tried clicking once. I tried holding the mouse button down. But they only stay open momentarily. This is with Opera maximised. I tried without Opera maximised, and the button didn't even momentarily open the menu. It is therefore impossible to change the layout of the email system, so I am going to have to go back to the earlier version as I detest having the email list and the email side by side instead of top and bottom.

Running Opera Next 12.00 Alpha build 1155 on Windows seven 64 bit.

As mentioned elsewhere, I was able to navigate the ... should I call it a panel or dialog perhaps? I've been referring to it as a palette, that's what they'd call it in one of those drawing programs Anyway ... I was able to select stuff in it using the keyboard. Just like in a regular dialog, you can use Tab and the arrow keys to select items - even though you can't see this dialog. confused

Can you tell me how you did this? Getting it open in the first place is the difficult bit. It closes about a tenth of a second after clicking to open it.

For me ... it only seems to close. It is still open, as you can see by the way it reacts when you press a key on the keyboard. Mind you, there seem to be two different bugs which produce this effect and I can't be sure the other bug would work.

Though come to think of it ... yes, the "I" shortcut is still defined as changing the layout. Skip the palette/dropdown/menu completely and just press I until you get the layout you want.

Slight progress - I tried that, but it changed to message list only, then after that I seemed to make it select two of the emails in turn , without changing the layout. I thought perhaps I also meant something else, so I found the shortcut in the settings, and changed it to the less likely combination of CTRL SHIFT I. Didn't help.

Just realised that paragraph is confusing - I (me) and I (the key).....

Testing it myself, I found I had to change the action for the shortcut by dropping the ", 2" off the end. After that it worked here.

Odd. I went to do as you suggested, and it was already in split view!! Anyway, I removed the 2 (what does the 2 do?) and I can now flip between all 3. Also got rid of that ghastly print layout thing and changed it to fit to width.

Not sure about a value of 2, generally it should switch between messages on right versus messages below.
