Bug Report SRS60-9388
My device: NOKIA E90
Though build 1947, with which this report is written, is - initially - more stable than build 1893, it's still just as unusable for me. Therefore, I have been forced to revert to Version 11.10 again!
REGARDLESS WHETHER "Opera Link" is DISABLED OR ENABLED, this build freezes after a while, in the middle of ANY random operation. But what is worse, this build ALMOST ALWAYS manages to freeze the ENTIRE MOBILE(forcing me to rip out the battery), EVEN MORE OFTEN(as a share of all freezes: not in terms of how prone to freezing it is in general) THAN build 1893(in which the freeze occured almost immediately, but on the other hand was more often limited to just Opera Mobile, which then crashed and exited after a while).
Alas, I have NOT been able to establish a 100% step-by-step to demonstrate this: simply load tabs with web pages(not tiny ones), and just perform normal browser operations like browse down, click on links, or use the hot key "1" to open links in new tabs. As a rule of thumb, a freeze seems more prone to occur when the application is "stressed" by performing many tasks simultaneously without waiting for previous tasks to finish first(e.g. web pages to complete loading). I have experienced freezing with as little as two tabs open, however not with less than that.
Given the gravity of the problem with the entire phone freezing, I can't really be expected to try and find a 100% step-by-step, because it takes too much time dealing with random freezes before possibly finding one that has a 100% effect ...
So unless you can confirm that there is indeed a problem, or supply me with a tool that can capture a crash dump, this is it: no more Opera Mobile, not on my E90 at least ...
NOTE: As I wrote this report, build 1947 did once freeze the entire mobile, forcing me to rip out the battery. So I can give you a fresh, typical step-by-step example of how a freeze might occur. Note however, that I MYSELF can't repeat this particular freeze, so finding a 100% step-by-step really is a hopeless task!
I have more than 80 folders in my bookmarks, so browsing among them is a good "stresser":
1. Open http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=1139292
2. In tab nr 2, open http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=1156162
3. In tab nr 3, open http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2007/06/15/capturing-application-crash-dumps.aspx
4. Open Bookmarks: # 5 and select to ADD THE PAGE.
5. In the "Add Bookmark" menu, open the folder selection drop-down list, and PRESS AND HOLD THE "DOWN" KEY to quickly browse to the end of the folder tree, and see if the freeze occurs. And good luck ...
Cheers
I have installed on 2 e90 and there are no isssue for that and it is working fine this is my update
I have the following FW, and you? What's the latest that you know of?
400.34.93
21-04-2009
RA-6
NOKIA E90 (02)
@navendukumar:
The fact that you (so far
) do NOT seem to have any problem is an important information and I do appreciate your report, sincerely thanks.I know, there's always the last resort of FW upgrade +format +reinstall everything, but no offence I don't think that I'm there quite yet. I want to see first if I'm the only one that suffer from persisting freezes even with build 1947 (and BTW from the looks of it, I'm not).
I should also point out that:
1. Granted, build 1947 IS more stable than build 1893, but on the other hand, Version 11.10 is A LOT more stable than build 1947.
2. I'm a HEAVY user of OM, and my impression is, that that's part of the picture here: I think that it's entirely possible to use build 1947, MODERATELY, WITHOUT having problems - for a while.
3. IN FACT, build 1947 is so stable, that I'm actually not surprised that you deem it stable - for the moment: BUT NOW I really expect you to report ANY problems that you might experience in the future, now that your report have put my report in question, OK?
4. Version 11.10 is NOT ENTIRELY FREE EITHER from crashes, freezes, or even freezing the entire mobile: there is for instance, an issue when I use the hot key '*' and any of the Lt/Rt/Up/Dn keys, especially if I do it repeatedly and without pause in between, and that issue is not even new to version 11.10. BUT: without a 100% step-by-step, there's NO POINT REPORTING this (or other hang/freeze situations), unless it happens REALLY OFTEN. And that's the problem: it DOESN'T HAPPEN OFTEN ENOUGH for it to make sense to report, neither does it happen often enough to make it UNUSABLE. BUT: in regards to build 1947, MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE IS THAT IT DOES ACTUALLY HAPPEN OFTEN ENOUGH TO MAKE SENSE TO REPORT. That's what I'm taking a chance on, anyway

Cheers
I would advise u to go at nokia care do flashing and install latest version and then install new opera version as i have 2 e90 there are no isssue it is working fine no crashes ur phone needs hard format pl do and install the same problem will be cured
Phone: Nokia E5-00
RAM: 256mb
Pros:
1. Thank you for fixing the issues with selecting text using Up/Down navigation keys. I have been bothered by that issue since the release of 11.5:)
2. Page loading now at 0.7 sec per page (8kb page)
Cons:
1. Images are still on even if load images are off.
2. Lag issues when opening multiple tabs.
3. Freezing issues when opening multiple sites with large page sizes.
4. Sites like mediafire.com tend to hang up the browser for a few seconds.
5. Lag issues when navigating through sites with big images. (Single Column = OFF)
6. Its good that it does not eat a lot of ram but can ever you consider making a version for phones with large ram capacity?
7. No flash support. *Sigh*
8. Can we ever get a chance to change the skin of the browser just like that of 4.2?

I will be making a bug report of this later. And I hope that this issues that I have posted here are fixed on your next update.
Good Day Opera Team!

Could you give us an example, please?
1.) Enable the Load Images Setting
2.) Open m.google.com
3.) Disable the Load images setting
4.) Reload the page
By doing the following procedures, one will notice that the images are still shown even if the LOAD IMAGES setting is disabled.
However, this issue is not present on Opera Mobile version 11.1.

I am not asking for full flash support on the browser. What Im asking for is the integration of the flash plugin in order to play youtube videos on the browser itself without the need of the default phone player..

Hello and thank you for the feedback.
The change from 11.1 to 11.5 you see is intended. Images in your cache will keep being visible, since you have already downloaded. Turning off loading pictures, will not make already downloaded pictures to disappear, but will prevent new ones ( not cached) from being downloaded
Hope you like it

I for one turn off the load images setting because I want to load a page faster than the page which loads it images.
If the image on the cache is loaded even if the LOAD IMAGES setting is disabled then we can't call that setting as a disabled one because it still shows its images.
Therefore, the Opera Mobile's Load Images functionality should show images if it is enabled and it shouldn't show images if it is disabled.
Loading the image on the cache is a great function but I think the images on the cache should be loaded only when the Load Images is enabled to avoid the conflict with the disabled one.
I hope you get the message that I am trying to say.

Bug Report SRS60-9388:
1. Are you working on the freeze problem, or is it your position that there *IS NO* such issue with build 1947?
2. There has been suggested (by navendukumar) that my "phone needs hard format", as well as "latest new firm ware" AKA "flashing". Is that your position as well??
3. I think I already have the newest firmware: "As of June 2009, the Communicator's most recent firmware version is 400.34.93": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nokia_e90
http://thehandheldblog.com/2009/06/09/new-nokia-e90-firmware-v-4003493-now-available/
If ANYONE knows of a newer firmware I'd like to know it, please.
4. It's always an easy way out to blame the user and getting rid of complaints by suggesting firmware upgrades/reinstallations and device formats, since many (if not most) don't have the energy to do it because that's usually way more trouble than gain: "The usual caveats about backing up your data etc apply, remember that the E90 doesn’t have user data preservation ..." (quote from thehandheldblog.com: see URL above).
I for one will *NOT* go through that pain without *A LOT* more encouragement than the testimony of *ONE* happy NOKIA E90 user (i.e. navendukumar), ESPECIALLY given there ARE SEVERAL more freezing issues with build 1947 other than my complaint, albeit not on NOKIA E90(??).
At the very least, I want an *OFFICIAL* statement from Opera, and I have yet to get one ...
5. CONSIDER THIS: version 11.10 is A LOT more stable than build 1947, so WHY SHOULD I TRUST that a firmware upgrade/reinstallation and/or device format would take care of the freeze issue? The evidence for that is slim to none.
Cheers

@torsteina, @ManneS, @undecided4:
In my old NOKIA 9300's built-in web browser, there are THREE (3) excluding image options:
1. Don't show images AKA Don't load them
2. Show images AKA Load them
3. Show ONLY CASHED images (and Don't load new ones)
Food for thought.
Cheers

@navendukumar:
Ok, now that's another story. Thanks for the clarification.
1. No offense but can you, PLEASE, give me a reference to "admitted by nokia", preferably an official url, or in lack thereof, e.g. a forum or similar where this is being discussed or referred to? I would like some kind of 3rd party confirmation before DOWNgrading my firmware, and I also have to make an inventory of possible/probable DRAWBACKS of doing so ...
2. Also can you please elaborate some on what "navigation keys are not mapped properly" ACTUALLY MEANS? I have had NO problems with the navigation keys, ANYWHERE, with the - POSSIBLE, UNCONFIRMED - issue with Opera freezing. I am *NOT* going to downgrade just based on "a hunch", I'm going to need GOOD reason to trust that it will ACTUALLY HELP before doing so. Sorry, but I'm *NOT* going to just take your word for it. Thanks for the information though, I sincerely appreciate it!
3. Again, keep in mind that Version 11.10 IS STABLE, or at least stable ENOUGH. Add to this that build 1947 is considerably more stable than build 1893. Neither of these facts strengthen the case for a firmware upgrade being the solution: on the CONTRARY.
Cheers
My phone is 5800XM
When you download a file like zip/exe/etc the default path is always:
C:/data/other
I have try to change in opera:config with this path:
E:/download
But nothing changes. Please resolve it, i have also send the bug from opera mobile help.
Thanks for your work and for the support.

Oki sorry, there's still an unedited SRS60-9388@... above, feel free to cut that one out, too ... wow 5 (!) spams, that's actually quite disturbing ...
*Sigh* feels like yesterday my E90 was state of the art, and I haven't used or even looked at, half of its built in 'capabilities' ... but that's the way of the brave new world of gadgets ...
Cheers
Additional work to make opera mobile run while encountering no memory full errors should be done.
Great work on opera mini for s60!!

Back around v8 Opera Mobile used to have the same user options. The options obviously got dropped along the way. It would be good if they made a return. Offering the user as much option and flexibilty of operation is always a good thing to me.

I would appreciate an answer, is not the first time is posted this problem, and the bug is not just for this version, but also to the previous ones.

@Opera: Come on folks! You can do better than this. Don't leave us hang'n.
If you couldn't get bothered and will leave it like it is then at least have the decency to say so.
If you have a thread for this issue that you maintain than paste the link in here, man!
If you need a bug report then say so and I'm sure someone will adhere.
Cheers,
Feel free to help put the pressure on.

i have made 2 or 3 bug report, from the v10. No answer from Opera, so i'll decide to post here. I don't have make a thread because other people don't have answer about the path problem, so it`s useless.
I think is not a minor problem, but if opera have different idea, simply ask.

As you already noted this is an issue from the very first v10 release, but we'll consider this request for next releases.
@yurip thanks for answer, i have really appreciate it

I'll wait the next release.
You it is necessary me scoff?
I have 3 phones with симбианом (Symbian OS (9.1,9.2)), it NOKIA 5500, E90, N95!
The pregoing version of an opera, simply hanged at opening of a great number of tabs that already idiocy, considering that fact that operative memory in phone much, the new version not simply hangs, but because of it ALL OS hangs, phone not to switch off, have to take out the accumulator at all!!! This law in accuracy is shown on all 3х devices, even on naked, after a reinsertion, a problem same!!
I don't understand, why all time isn't enough you memory operative if so it is not enough of it, let the program uses memory of phone!!
Also works more slowly, same not an occasion to pass in such idiotic error!!!
That me still disturbs, your persuasive requirement to update the browser, at first I in general perceived as a virus, the message on that that work isn't safe is filled by delirium!! But that most of all irritates, after updating on last version the window all the same appears!!!
WHAT FOR BOSH????????
Why you can't make the normal, working browser???
Thus that the old version was quite efficient though and not ideal, all of you only have aggravated!!
I am looking for a speed improvement, better handling with webpage (closer to PC experience), less RAM demanding, better online streaming, and capable to Goggle Map loading etc. Is it ver. 11.5 suits my requirement? Pls comment.
