Opera mail + Dual Boot : how to use a common database?

Hi everyone,

Here is my problem/question:
I am using both linux AND Windows, approx 70% / 30% ... it's a standard dualboot, Ubuntu on one side, Windows XP on the other side.
What is annoying is that when I retrieve my emails under Windows, they are considered as "retrieved" and do not come to my mailbox under linux when I switch OS.

I would like my Opera(s) software(s) to somehow point to the same files/database to read, retrieve and store my emails... or being able to retrieve emails from one OS even if I already got them on my other OS.

any idea? Am I looking for something way too complicated where there is a simple solution? Or is it simply impossible? smile

thanks for your help!

Put the mail folder on a drive/partition where bothe windows and linux can see it. go to opera:config" on both Operas, look for "Mail Root Directory" (it's under Mail) and insert the path to the new location of the mail folder. Save and restart Opera.

Note: Make sure that Opera Windows and Opera Linux are not opened at the same time or the mail database can become messed up.

See <http://my.opera.com/operawiki/forums/topic.dml?id=1132392> and <http://operawiki.info/ProfileSharing>.

Also see, <http://my.opera.com/operawiki/forums/topic.dml?id=1132992>, <http://my.opera.com/operawiki/forums/topic.dml?id=1132442> and <http://www.opera.com/support/mastering/sysadmin/#configure> for more info on where stuff is located.

Also in operaprefs_default.ini when not using single user mode, you can specify Opera Directory and Opera Local Directory under [User Prefs] to tell Opera what romaing and local profile folders to use.

So, do as LeoCG says. But, if you want to sync contacts and passwords and other stuff, see the links above.

Gents,

I was sure I tried that long ago and messed up all my emails! smile
I'll try again more carefully, following your indications. Thank you very much for your time and precious advice!

Thomas.
