Old stable versions are available on the FTP server ftp://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/linux/ (or leave off the "linux/" to browse other platforms), or from the download page by clicking on the "More options" link. Versions older than that can be found on the archive server.

The tarball of the latest version might still work if the installer doesn't, but Opera doesn't try to support versions of Linux which are no longer maintained by your distro.
