Why won't Opera load this page?

http://graphical.weather.gov/sectors/uppermissvly.php?element=MaxT, when linking from this page: http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?site=LOT&map.x=211&map.y=98

I'm pretty sure it used to load ok, but not positive my memory is correct. It opens in Firefox so I know it's not a problem at their (NWS) end. The only thing I can do to get the page to load is to go to "Network connections" and "repair". When I do so the page immediately loads even before the connection is reset, but then none of the script works on it. I have enabled plugins on demand - everything else is default. I have disabled my adblocking extensions and it still doesn't work.

Animated images, java, plugins, are all enabled. I'm blocking "unwanted popups". Allowing popups has no effect.

Prior to this the "Detailed Point Forecast" on the page represented by the second link above, would also not show until I enabled plugins on demand (this also used to work in the past). Something in Opera changed for all this to happen. I haven't done anything other than to disable things in effort to re-enable this content.

My system is XP/SP3 and I have Bitdefender 2011. I disabled the firewall also.

That's all the relevant info. I can think of right now.

Thanks!

This is a fallacy. Sites may send different code to Opera than they send to Firefox. The fact that masking as Firefox fixes problems on some sites is proof that the problem is at their end. Not sure what the cause is here, just saying that we do not know that its not a problem at their end.

This link in your first post opens just fine here.

The quickest way to fix problems is often to just delete operaprefs.ini to reset your preferences to the defaults. It may take a few minutes to modify your preferences again, but that's often much quicker than trying to diagnose the problem.

I understand what you're saying about the fallacy.

Suddenly, today, this link works.

Overall I am endorsing Opera as it is the least resource-demanding browser I've found, and the least likely to freeze or crash.

Thanks for your input.

Maybe it was a virus or sometimes the page itself wont load for dns issues it will self fix in no time so be patient, it also happens with firefox, or chrome.

Did the virus/malware scans and nothing, so it is an unsolved mystery as to why it happened. I'm just happy it's resolved.

Its too late now, but if you solve a problem within 24 hours you can edit the first post yourself to prefix the title with [Solved]. That helps users looking for solutions, and saves helpers the trouble of opening it. Moderators don't usually bother to close solved threads, but it does happen. Just click the "Unsubscribe" button at the top of the thread if you are receiving notifications about replies, and don't want any more. By default, topic subscription is off, but there's a checkbox below the message box.
