And if you find the new Android Market painfully slow, then here's an advise I found:
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Android%20Market/thread?tid=7a9d010884f9a444&hl=en

open Applications > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All Applications (tab) > Long hold on Market, choose Uninstall Updates.

I just checked my saved pages and can anyone explain why the last 3 versions of Mini have been randomly saving pages with no input from me? last time i checked i had 3 pages that i did save but now there's 37, and i know i didn't accidentally do it because of the way you save pages and it doesn't happen every time i use it.

Love it, just moved from symbian to xperia mini (2011 version). The android version seems much snappier with the new hardware and all but I have noticed some issues and bugs that were not a problem in symbian version:

1/ Scrolling is much less smooth despite moving from resistive to capacitive screen and getting enough momentum up to get the page down button to appear is not a very reliable process (scrolling quickly in other apps is not a problem). I think it's too accurate because its will shivver quickly when it's not sure where to go, giving the impression of a rather nervous response - the effect may be greater for me because my phone only has a 3" screen but it's very noticable in comparison to my experience with the symbian version. If anything could be done to makke the scrolling smoother and less nervous that would be fantastic as the difference coming from symbian was huge.

2/When swiping up or down with the status bar visible, the keyboard often apears and the add bar or search box is activated. This happens when brushing the status bar during a swiping motion (up or down) and will occur often but not all the time - again it is probably more noticable to me as I have a small screened device and brush the edges of the screen all the time. When the status bar is hidden this seems to happen either very rarely or not at all.

3/The android version has a problem with websites that provide random user name and password information such as http://boards.4chan.org/lit/ when you click on each thread or image you will be prompted to save the password and user info every single time and its really really dibilitating. This doesn't happen in the symbian version (not sure if you have to save a random passwrod to block it or not but either way this is unique to the android version).

4/No landscape option for people who prefer not to use screen auto-rotation - not really a priority though

5/The "navigation bar" is much larger relative to the screen (perhaps overly so). I recognise that this is to do with varying resolutions and screen sizes which is clearly more of an issue for android than with symbian. My new phone has the same height screen but a little wider yet the nav bar is almost 1.5 times the size and so it seems a little over sized. Old phone was 2.8" standard symbian 360*640 and the new one is 3" (same height) at 320*480. Obviously the old phone has better pixel density and things will appear smaller but I still think that it's worthy of a mention.

Sorry for the long post! Opera mini is my fav browser of all time (more than any desktop browser) and I use it many times a day. Thanks for the great work, hopefullly what I've said is a little bit helpful

thanks everyone

PS. my new phone is xperia mini 2011, 3", 320*480. Usually I have mobile view switched on along with the status and navigation bars.

2/ menu dropdown just scrolling up/down can be confirmed for j2me platform too, using se_j10i2 - not confirmed with k800i, hard to say if accelerometer implementation trigger that in java but when is happened the page is always zoomed in or is by default in mobile view - I've noticed that only after latest server update. Good to know if other devices have such a behaviour (other than SE).

having had some more experiences I can add two things..

A. whenever I open a youtube video, a dialog appears stating"connection failed, problem reading from server, retry cancel". this happens every time despite the fact that the youtube app always launches instantly and plays the video fine

B. scrolling is not only less smooth than the symbian version but is slower too. I checked opera mobile on android and it was faster and smoother than mini.

SKIRNE 165972

Phone: ZTE Blade, Android 2.2

Summary: Speed dial does not keep manually given URL

Description: Speed dials work differently than bookmarks and does not save the save the URL exactly as user has defined. Instead browser fetch the possible redirected address and saves that. This is understandably useful for getting the thumb nail image. Problems can occur when saved redirected URL is only temporary and for example stores only very temporary cookies. As an result speed dial may not open what expected in a long run.

URL: https://mail.opera.com/mail/?MLS=LN-*&UDm=68827&Ust=39624b3d.9f8441ca&&hasjs=1

Steps:
1. Save speed dial with this exact address: https://mail.opera.com
2. After saving notice the address really saved is: https://mail.opera.com/mail/?MLS=LN-*&UDm=68827&Ust=39624b3d.9f8441ca&&hasjs=1
3. Notice the user interface, which at this point should be fixed for mobile devices.
4. After several hours (~6h) open speed dial and notice the 'mobile view' cookie has expired for saved address.

Then try to check the speed dial after several hours to see what kind of UI (ser interface) you get.

However, when Opera Mail becomes accessible for mobile browsers via MyOpera menu, it will very likely work alright, and there's no need to save it on to speed dial anymore up

I have more information regarding the "connection failed, problem reading from server, retry cancel" error that keeps popping up.

it only happens with sockets connection. it is also not limited o youtube videos... put opera mini in the background for a split second while a page is loading and the error appears without fail.

with http protocol selected, I can jump in and out of opera mini without any error messages.

Yes, I've created a thread regarding this issue. A user, Siealex, proposed that, "it looks like the devs didn't erase the minimization detector when porting from Java."

I like opera mini. Using it since my old symbian device. The thing that bothers me is that it needs time to display content when not using it in mobile view. In other words, after it finishes the loading of a page and I zoom in either by double tapping or with pinch to zoom the content disappears and needs time to appear again in the zoomed in state (especially the pictures) which makes it also not scroll smoothly compared to opera mobile which zooms and scrolls around the page lightning fast. It's quite annoying considering that they are similar apps with the difference in the engine locations and have the same hardware at their disposal, and opera mini even gets the lightweight version of pages.
Hope you guys make it perform faster while zooming and scrolling around so it can match its fast loading speeds.
