fonts specified with @font-face disappear after a time
I've been noticing this for a while, and seen other mention of fonts that disappear, but I've noticed it consistently with any fonts specified as webfonts (via @font-face)I'd noticed it first with the google webfonts, but more recently after experimenting with the fontsquirrel packaged fonts, I see the same effect
opera-11.52-1100.i386 on Fedora
All I need to do is have multiple tabs open, and go away from the tabs with the font faces on them for a while, browsing in other tabs, opening and closing as per normal
when I get back to the tab with the webfonts, they're either missing completely (most often), or replaced with generic.
Do you have any specific URL I can use to keep open in the background for a few hours?

I have also seen this.
I know it happens with Google Fonts and with TypeKit.
I'm currently on Ubuntu 11.10 with whatever the latest version of Opera is. But I've seen this for several versions of Opera now, it's not new.
I haven't reported it though... it's like a watched kettle, when I'm trying to make it happen it doesn't!

It was a bright, cold day in April...
not particularly. just load up a page with some google webfonts using any method: <link> or css include (ala
@import url(http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Tangerine:400,700&v2); )
phantomlab.com was a site we worked on recently that's using 3 webfonts from google: pt-sans, cabin, and crimson text, included via <link>

Alright, I've been able to confirm the issue using this test case, which I wrote to fix the lack of one: http://files.myopera.com/Frenzie/files/test/@font-face-test.html
For future reference I'd add that a link to a page where the problem occurs — or even better, a testcase isolating the problem — definitely helps for the confirmation of such issues.

noting that I did mention phantomlab.com which used 3 webfonts, above as a potential test case on a live site.

Of course, I'm just saying that I would like to see that in the OP in the future.
It was what motivated me to write my own testcase, however, because I figured it would take almost just as long as figuring out which fonts were standard system fonts and which were webfonts — unless it excusively uses webfonts, but that too isn't something I would know unless you told me.
Anyhoo, I filed a bug report. DSK-351213

Heh, I was wondering why my web fonts had stopped working ... thought it was just the web font bureau having some trouble.
Fixed in the latest snapshot http://snapshot.opera.com/unix/latest
just got the Opera 12.00 update installed here on my Fedora system, so will follow up if bug persists here.
I've had my testcase open in the background for the past hour or so and fonts are still displaying. I don't know if it makes a difference that I've got HWA enabled at present.

http://whiteboardframework.com/ just had a massive vanishing occur on this one, while that tab was not the currently visible tab for an hour or two, while I went on and was further perusing about 20-30 other sites and reading various articles
Currently using 12.01.
Bug still persisting, but much less often now.

Here's presumably another confirmation that the bug still persists: http://my.opera.com/community/forums/findpost.pl?id=13284982
