Problems with Opera Link

Owing to hard disk crash I had to reinstall Opera. Previously registered and had set up synchronisation for all my bookmarks. I had expected that having reinstalled opera again I could then access link and synchronisation but nothing works through my opera

Alternatively I still have all my old files stored in another directory - are the bookmarks stored anywhere that I can access?

No reason they wouldn't be ... if you copied everything from the old computer. Opera's settings are stored in what is normally a hidden directory in your "Documents and Settings" folder - though the precise location depends on your version of Windows. (Microsoft keeps changing where they tell programs to store their data.)

You can see where your current version of Opera has stored its settings by going to Help > About Opera, you'll actually see a separate listing for Bookmarks but you should notice that the file listed for Bookmarks is normally in the directory listed for Opera directory. If you have the same username, and same version of Windows, then the bookmarks and Opera directory should be in similar places in your old data.

If you go here:

https://link.opera.com/

and log in with you Opera Link username and password do you see all your old bookmarks? Or is there nothing there?

Have tried this link - looks as if it will load and tells me that it is redirecting to my opera link page but doesn't get there

That is strange, it should take you to something like

https://my.opera.com/YOURUSERNAME/account/link/bookmarks/

Where username is the username you use for Opera Link (same one you use here? I use a different account for opera link. So if you use a different account name you have to login to that account to see your bookmarks)

Then you should see all your bookmarks. You can add and delete bookmarks on this page too. If you still can't get to that page, maybe something on your network is blocking you and Opera Link?

it was originally the same password/user name as my opera but my opera loses the password and on each occasion I have to get a new one. It would also be good to know how to change a password and save it

I know that the bookmarks are there - I just cannot access them in any way!
