Are you writing an extension for internet radio? Are you using the Audio element and want to add a control that adjusts the volume?
Do you have visible UI for the audio element or is it just running in the background? Is the audio element running in the background process?
You should probably look into the volume property of the Audio object. It's a value between 0.0 and 1.0 that controls the volume of the element.

So how exactly is your extension structured? Where is the UI displayed? Where does the audio element reside?

I had a quick look at your extension, and I see you're using a Flash embed for the player.
Honestly, I'm surprised that works - when I was writing my extension, I couldn't get a flash embed into the background process, so I used the HTML5 Audio element. It could be because I used the speed dial for the background.
What you'd have to do is figure out a way to send variables to the flash embed and figure out if/how your embedded flash can change volume.
I think it's possible to do javascript -> flash messaging, but I can't tell you how exactly. Also, it depends on how your embed works, so you should consult its documentation.
