Unable to delete cookie settings

Hi, I seem unable to delete cookie settings sometimes. After I go to Manage Cookies and delete an entry it reappears whenever I change the Browser identification (in Edit Preferences) (without refreshing a page). This does not happen with most entry but it does definitely happen with some. What this is meaning for me at the moment is that I can not log in to some websites to which cookies were once (by mistake blocked). Does anybody have any ideas of how to really delete the cookie settings (without deleting the cookies4.dat)? Thanks , Nigel.
