Deleted Opera's icons folder result all Bookmarks vanished.
I will go into much detail as I possibly can, in order to increase the chance I can recover the Bookmarks, which are very important. I want to say thank you in advance and appreciate any help I do received.I've deleted all the Opera's icons thinking that it's useless/waste of space as most of the icons dated back to 2009-2010. I follow through with my decision and send over 3,000 icons junkie into the "trashcan". I then restarted the PC, open up Opera browser and realized entire Bookmarks have been erased. (To make it clear, I haven't actually delete those icons from my PC but only have them in the "trash bin"). My "bulletproof
" back up plan was to "restore" all those icons back to it origin, I proceeded. Once again I restart the PC, open up Opera and sweats began to pour
.Attempted on recover the Bookmarks
:I have tried to locate any save Bookmarks by "Import and Export" but got empty handed. And I've been using Opera since 2008, such a shame on myself for not create a back up Bookmark.
System restore is Off by the way.
Google's no help either.
So much for my bulletproof plan. I should have created a back up bookmark or System Restore at that time, what a rookie mistake. Well, that's all there to it. Once again I want to say thank you for ANY help I get, thank you, thank you. And to add more fuel to my frustrating I wrote this topic twice since somehow I closed the page by accident.

Welcome to the forum!

There's no reason why deleting those icon files should have deleted the bookmarks themselves, they are just the icons that display alongside the bookmarks in the bookmarks list.
Still the damage appears to have been done.
I'm sure Opera used to automatically back up the bookmarks file, but sadly it doesn't seem to do that any more.
Your best hope is to Google to find a free file "undelete" program (I use "Undelete Plus"), install it and scan your hard drive with it.
You're looking for a file called "bookmarks.adr".
If you find it, undelete it and put it back in your Opera profile folder (Opera will have created a new one, which will be empty unless you're saved new bookmarks, and if you're not worried about them just over-write the file.)
Do it as soon as you can, because the longer you leave it the more chance there is at the file will be over-written and un-recoverable.
If you have plenty of free space on your hard drive, there's a good chance that it won't have been over-written yet.
It's very unlikely that System Restore would have backed up that file even if it had been on BTW.
If you want to purge that ridiculously huge icons folder again, use this -
http://asger-p.dk/OperaClean.rar
It works a treat and seems to be completely safe.
Oh, and of course back up your bookmarks file first!
Good luck!

I'm deeply, deeply thankful for your reply and help. I would give you a kiss if you were here!
.
You would have laugh if I tell you how simple it was to recover the bookmark thanks to your godsend reply.
I downloaded the software Undelete Plus as you have suggested and was ready to proceed.
At that moment I keep re-read your reply and "You're looking for a file called "bookmarks.adr" "There's no reason why deleting those icon files should have deleted the bookmarks themselves, they are just the icons that display alongside the bookmarks in the bookmarks list."catches my attention.
I then did a simple windows search for "bookmarks.adr", and the rest is history. I feel like an idiot after I found it
(there were tons of bookmarks.adr scatter in many/different folders, no wonder why I can't seem to find it manually)
Once again, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart and I wish you a happy Turkeyday!
and yea I'm going after those junkie icons again!

If you use OperaClean you should be able to delete all the orphaned icon files safely next time.
So pleased that things worked out OK for you.
Cheers, Dave.
