Opera and localhost

Hello

I'm using SABnzbd and to access it I need to type http://localhost:8085/sabnzbd/ in the address bar, but it doesn't work. I've been searching around and it seems that Opera doesn't allow access to localhost. Is this true? And is there any way around it?

It works flawlessly in other browsers, but I really don't want to use any other smile

Thanks in advance! smile

EDIT: Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section or if the topic have been covered before. I tried to search, but didn't find anything relevant.

There is no problem using localhost in URL; I am at times using several tools for development that is hosted on localhost.

Unfortunately, you do not mention what kind of error messages you get.

Foe security reasons, there is a block against automatic access (inlines, redirect) from non-localhost servers. Manually clicking links or entering addresses work fine. There is a similar restriction for access from public networks to local network.

Sorry, forgot to mention what error i get. I added a image of it here. I figured you're Norwegian, so it won't be a problem to understand smile

I also run Win7 as you can see.

It works perfectly in other browsers, but unfortunately not in Opera.

("Could not connect to server") Sounds like Opera is being blocked by a firewall. Opera tried to connect, but was refused connection rights, either by the server or the firewall.

I tried installing it on a older computer with opera and it seems to work there. running win xp. very weird.

i also tried disconnecting firewalls and av on main computer, but that didn't help.

You can also use the computer name or the ip to connect to it, it works fine for me in linux and with win7(but it's through the network so it's not the same thing)

And the sabnzbd at the end is not required anymore if you have a recent version.
MAIN PC: 12.16 -> i7-2600k, 16GB RAM, Win 7 x64
HTPC: 15.0.1147.153 -> A10-6700, 8GB RAM, win 7 x64

I just keep getting more depressed every time I update opera. Very old bugs not fixed, easy fix not made(talking about no option to disable image resize here), new "features" even more annoying than the last ones implemented and often poor compatibility with a lot of website.

Sabnzbd+ stopped working for me in Opera 11.60 - 11.52 would work if you used an IPv6 localhost address:
http://[::1]:8085/

In 11.60 I get:
Invalid URL

The URL http://[::1]:8085/ contains characters that are not valid in the location they are found.
The reason for the problem may be a mistyped URL, but the URL may also be an attempt to trick you into visiting a website which you might mistake for a site you trust.

As far as I know, it's valid. It worked fine in 11.52.
On Window 7 with Opera if I use localhost:8085 I get:

Could not connect to remote server

Check that the address is spelled correctly, or try searching for the site.

IE9 works fine. Sabnzbd developers claim it's an Opera glitch, and it sure seems that way to me... Their FAQ entry is here:
http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/faq#toc9

I think it's amazingly stupid that I have to use IE to view Sabnzbd... Though I'm not convinced it's actually Opera's fault per se as other localhost servers on other ports like sickbeard etc work fine . . .

To update myself:
Ok, I guess I freaked out too soon. If you are having an issue, update to 0.6.12, and then use localhost:port rather than the IPv6 version... Though why Opera suddenly decided that was an invalid address, I don't know.

Hi all
I have same problem. I'm running PHP 5.4.4 with integrated PHP development server on port 8077
when I run http://localhost:8077/ Opera (version 12.02) says "Could not connect to remote server"
Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer works fine.
I have added Opera to Windows firewall.
I'm using Windows 7 x64
Any idea why Opera will not work with this local address?
Thanks.

Not enough information to know - and you probably should have started a new thread since I doubt it is related to the earlier issue.
