Opera Freezes

Why does my Opera freeze on my laptop?????????? after it has been on for about 1 minute. I really like Opera I use it on my Desk top but it is useless on my laptop. I am using AVG virus control. There must be some settings that need some changing. Every thing was running ok until I changed to AVG from Macafee.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well if everything was fine until you changed to AVG I would remove AVG.

FYI, this current Win7 system is running both Opera 11.52 and AVG 2012 together just fine. So whatever is going on is not an inherent incompatibility between the two. I've made no changes either to "stock" AVG or to Opera to accommodate the other software.
Opera 12.14u (1738), 11.52 (1100) & 10.63 (3576) running on various Windows systems from Win7-64 down through KernelEx4-modified Win98FE (proof that reports of Win98's demise are greatly exaggerated).
