LAN browsing with Opera Mobile
I'd like to know if there is any way to browse the local network using Opera Mobile as I would like, for example, to open .mht files without having to copy them from the network share.Thanks.
files stored on the local device or on a webserver are no problem at all( for local, local IP for webserver)
if you want to open from network shares it will be a little trickier.
you'll need a way to mount network shares as local folders.
it's possible on my archos A43, but it might require some rom modification on some devices.

this should work, allowing you to access the files through a address, but you will need root access and possibly cifs support in the rom you use.

Thanks for the prompt answer, but I'm affraid cifsmanager doesn't seem to work on my LG P500. Whenever I point to a share like "192.168.1.2/temp" it just returns a message saying the device doesn't exist. Anything else I can try ?
Thanks.
Thanks.
I am having the same problem with my Archos 7 internet tablet. The Opera Mini will not see the local webserver on 192.168.2.3. The built in browser that comes with Archos can find it without any problems. I tried to install the Opera Mobile instead of the mini but I can not get it to install on this device.
As a follow-up:
It seems that opera Mini renders all the web pages on a remote server, because of this it has no way connecting to local ip's on your network. The link below gives and example of setting up an ssh tunnel on your local network so Opera Mini can see your internal webserver. I have not tried this yet but as soon as I do I will post my results.

I take it that Opera Mobile without the "Turbo" option does not process webpages on external servers.
I also am not trying to access any local webservers but my LAN's Windows shares.
Thanks anyway.

Yes I know. I'd just like a speedier way to open files in opera, without having to copy them.
Mainly because one annoyance of android is that you can't just associate files with any app like you do in windows.
Thanks.
