Bitmap fonts in Opera mobile
I use a Beetel Magiq (originally Huawei ideos) tablet running Android 2.2. I am unable to read Tamil (and other Indian language) fonts using Opera Mobile browser. Earlier, I have used Opera Mini and selected the option "Use bitmap fonts for complex scripts" to read Tamil web pages. I now live in UAE where Opera Mini is blocked. So, I have to depend on Opera Mobile for browsing. Is there a similar "bitmap font" option in Opera Mobile browser? Or is there any way I can read Tamil and other Indian language websites in Opera Mobile browser? As I understand it the device is to blame. One option I read about is copying over a file in the system/fonts file to solve this. It requires root access (I don't know how far you're willing to go) with a good file manager that can mount the systems directory r/w. This is nothing I need so I didn't try it. I found a browser in the market (SETT) that was able to read www.tamil.net but had many blocks still in it and it wasn't much of a browser.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Thanks yours. I have read that SETT browser works well but here in UAE, it is locked with one particular operator. So, that's out of bounds. Please suggest me a good file manager that can mount systems directory r/w. Also advise if there is a "Use bitmap fonts for complex scripts" option in Opera Mobile (as there is in Opera Mini).
I'm afraid most anything I offer will drift out of bounds. Copying into the system directory requires root access. Here in the US, for now anyway, it's legal to circumvent any provider security... for 'development' purposes. However there I have my doubts. At any rate I'm doing you no favors by trying to explain it all here nor is this the proper place.
If you have root access great. Off the top of my head: script manager, astro file manager, ES file manager, root manager and possibly androzip would all prolly do the job if you didn't want to just do it from the terminal. I believe I read about changing the sansfallback.ttf on the Droid forums.
As far as the bitmap option. I don't have opera mini installed right now but it would be in the same opera:config location I'd guess and I didn't see it.
