chaning font on the reply hedding

The default font for the reply heading over the senders email is New Times roman. I have my settings for my replys set on Tahoma 16 however when I click above the quoted message, it thinks I want New Times Roman... the same as the reply heading. The only way to get my Tahoma is by manually doing it or first clicking on Plain Text then clicking again on the HTML options. Is there a way to change the default to the font I want? I have Windows 7

You changed "Email compose(HTML)", right?

I tested and changing the font to something else works fine for new messages and replies to HTML messages.

Use the "standalone installation" option in the installer to install to a folder on your desktop. Setup mail in it (do not import and do not uncheck "leave messages on the server'). See if it works fine in it. Try with the latest 11.60 build at <http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/> and try with the latest 12 snapshot just to see if there's any difference.

However, I do know that multiple users have complained about this in the past and Opera is just buggy when it comes to HTML composing. For example, while the font change works, the size change is ignored. Also, when replying to certain HTML messages, the insert position will be inside an element of the quoted HTML, which might have different font styles than what you have. You can do ctrl + home and backspace etc. to get the insert position outside. I've also heard of the font drop-down not being set until you switch to plain text mode and back. But, I forgot how to reproduce that. These issues are known though and have been like that for a long time.

The quick workaround I have found for this glitch (and, yes, it has been around for a while) is to click the "Use Plain Text" button, then click the "Use HTML Formatting" button again. This always gives me my default font, and any previous HTML formatting survives the switch into and out of Plain Text.
