Gelocation

Can anyone explain what Gelocation is. From what i hope it would mean was that websites would not be able to know where i lived with this off.
Whether its on or off i still see my location come up in the side plane in Google each time i use and adverts relating to my town.

Your computer's IP address can also be used to determine where you are located, at least down to city level, sometimes closer.

The only way to work around that method is to use an anonymizing proxy.

Or maybe using Opera Turbo? While some advanced websites which are specially designed to show YOU your IP address can bypass Opera Turbo - the common way of tracking IP addresses used by all websites will only track the Opera Turbo Server IP address.

There is no magic way to bypass Opera Turbo wink
The server only has to look for the "HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR" header sent by Opera turbo which reveals your IP Address/ISP.
Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed.
Every morning a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death.
It doesn't matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle: when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.

Fine but most websites do not look for this header - so 1 in 20 websites record your ACTUAL IP address when you are browsing with Opera Turbo.
