[Feature request]:Calendar view for emails (copy from email forum)
Dear All,We have been trying to setup a system for project management based on emails (quite a number of failures in this field :-)) and this revives some recurrent problems (below) that could activate a feature for email client?
a) it is difficult to align email messages with ongoing tasks (we can use some convention in email subject f.ex. "project:testing:task1", but it's difficult to maintain).
a) after few messages, it becomes very difficult to trace the discussion back few steps (even with threads and filters) especially when multiple persons are commenting.
b) after some time, information about the exact moment of project calendar when this or that decision was taken is difficult to find. Dates for filtering are not providing sufficiently high level of view.
c) it takes some time to write relevant messages and information written is almost never reused. F.ex. with Slava we do not write any greetings or message termination to save time and use email as a sort of instant messaging.
Threfore, a suggestion. Do you think that Opera could have a graphical view of emails where:
- each message would be a dot/circle like on Gantt chart of project management or like calendar corresponding to pictures taken with digital cameras.
- thread emails would be linked by arrows like in a Gantt chart
- you could open/close labels (which are classifications of emails) to activate/deactivate some sections of email.
- you could label messages directly on the graph with right-click
- you could zoom in/out
- graphical part would have a higher time resolution in the middle (3-7 days) while a more dense resolution on the left and on the right (1 week-1 month). Like if you were looking at a cylinder.
You can say no to all of the above of course
Cheers
