Horizontal scrolling using a touchpad doesn't work.

I'm using Opera 11.52 on my laptop and I'm operating Windows 7. Using a touchpad, vertical scrolling works fine in all applications including Opera, but horizontal scrolling doesn't work in Opera even though it works fine in other applications including other browsers. I've tried going to the mouse mapping settings in the advanced tab in the preferences options and changing some things there but it still doesn't work. Does anyone know what the reason may be and how to fix it?
