Unable to access sync from Mini 6.0.24455
I last synchronised my bookmarks from my Nokia N95 using Opera Mini 6.0.24455 maybe about a year ago both ways with no problems. I also downloaded Opera Mini 5.2 on the same phone and downloaded all the bookmarks and speed dials to that app no problem sometime later.Since then I've added a lot more bookmarks and thought it was time to sync all again.
Over the past 2 weeks I have tried repeatedly but as soon as I hit the log in button I get the following notice.
"You are switching Opera accounts. Another Opera user has synchronised his or her data with this device. If you continue all existing bookmarks, Speed dial entries and search engines will be erased from this device. Do you want to continue?"
Each time I did not continue as I don't want to lose about 300 or more bookmarks. To log into Opera all my previously synced bookmarks are there ok.
In case the second synced opera mini 5 app on my phone was the reason for the above "other Opera user" message I deleted the Mini 5 app but still I am getting the same message.
I do not have any other computers or devices synced other than this Nokia N95.
I am a very non tech orientated guy and there doesn't seem to be any official support as far as I can see so if any help can be offered then I would be very grateful.
sincerely, Officer Dibble

Never existed...
You should upgrade to 6.5 for S60 and see if that would help.

That's true. Opera Mini is a free product, without official support. The forum is the only for of support there is, but a lot of Opera employees frequent the forum.
hi ManneS.
Thanks for the reply. Whatever about 5.2 never existing it was definitely 5 something or other.
I'll see if any other suggestions come along but it is the message about the other Opera user and risking losing all those bookmarks I'd like to hopefully get some thoughts on too.
Thanks very much. I appreciate your input.

Before you try more experiments with syncing Opera Link to your phone, I would suggest that you backup all your bookmarks in the Opera browser on your PC (hit File - Synchronize - etc). Opera Mini bookmarks will show in the bookmark tree as a new folder marked with the red dot and named Opera Mini.
You should later rename this folder to something like Opera Mini Old (any name will do). You can then sync the second set of bookmarks from your new phone and rename the folder to, let's say, Opera Mini New.
Now you have both sets of bookmarks backed up on your PC and you can start testing Opera Link.
I hope you will have more luck then me. I have completely given up on Opera Mini bookmarks, the only "bookmark" I have is "Feeds". I use Memopad app on my BlackBerry to store bookmark links. The unexpected benefit coming from this unorthodox setup is that Opera Mini won't freeze up any more.
My case might be extreme (Opera Link probably doesn't like my older BlackBerry OS v4.5), but even Opera techs that sometimes post here have admitted that Opera Link is not as reliable as they wished.

I managed to figure out a solution to this - was actually meant to post a year ago
I'd been having the same problem with my Opera Mini 6 (version 6.0.24288) giving me the same "Another Opera user has synchronised his or her data with this device" message - it turned out what was going on is I'd given my username to log on instead of my full email address, which was what I used the first time round.
Took me a while to figure this - to check, I looked at the _b5f_1_3.rs file and lo and behold it had my email address stored as my opera link credentials (read here for more details on the files)
Trying again, I put in my email address to log on which worked fine.
Of course, the question is what happens if you continue after that message - do you lose your bookmarks on your phone or on your link account? The advice given above is partially helpful however its no good if its your phone you lose. To that there's another file you can check out which is the _b5f_2.rs file - this contains all the bookmarks and if you backup this you can restore if all goes wrong (on Opera Mini 4 its file that ends in ..._m_b100.rms).
It helped that I'd installed my Opera Mini to my Nokia phone's E: drive so was able to access via usb, if you don't you'd probably have to mess around with doing phone backups which might make things tricky. Hope this helps with anyone having the same problem
