Archiving

I had 16 letters in my inbox and that was 2% of my allowance. It doesn't go far does it.

So I put them all in the archive and no message tells me now how much storage is left. may I presume putting stuff in archive compresses it and takes it off the record with the %age thing?

Whilst it is an handy tool, the fact that Opera will delete an account not used for so many days is making it a poor relation to Gmail. Hotmail does that and I have lost two addresses to that clause. I am not interested in expanding my address book in Opera mail.

operamail.com? You get 25 MB. Get an account at mail.opera.com and you get 1 GB or so.

No, it's a good thing. It takes a long time before accounts are deleted, and there's no reason why people who don't use the service should be able to block usernames.

No it's a bad thing. All of us are subject to life's vagaries and can get re routed from things, a simple broken computer, period of unemployment, moving and losing things can all cause you to lose your e-mails.

Loooong story: We had operamail.com since many years ago, but it wasn't managed by Opera Software before, so we couldn't control the user names and thus we have duplicate names between operamail.com and the rest of our services. All other services share the same username+password: Opera Link, My Opera, Opera Unite, Dev.Opera etc. etc., so we had to make two services: One for the old users so they didn't lose their address/mail (operamail.com) and one for everyone else (mail.opera.com).
