Why doesn't Opera use the Android system-wide proxy settings?

I have learned how to enter a proxy address using the "secret" URL opera:config.
This works but it is global. It allows me to surf from behind my corporate firewall, but when I leave that WiFi net
and try to use it elsewhere, I am blocked.

Android's proxy settings are on a WiFi network-specific basis. The built-in Android browser works fine in all WiFi environmwnts without
having to go to a settings page to fiddle with a proxy address.

Why can't Opera offer this as an option: "use system proxy setting." ??
