My last opera had a green highlight on text boxes, with a short history list. Gone in 11.52

I got 11.50, I think it was. I had not upgraded since 9.21, and one thing I really liked was certain useful text boxes had a green border around them, and when I clicked in them a popup list showed my recent history of entries to that box. Very good

I did have one problem I never had before, some datepickers wouldnt work right, so I accepted the automated offer to upgrade when 11.52 came along. After the upgrade to 11.52, the textbox-history functionality is gone

Is it a setting, or would it come back if I return to 11.50?

well back to 11.50 didnt bring it back. And it's so strange - I cant find a single reference to this behavior in a google search. "opera textbox history", "opera textbox previous entries", etc. I went through all the UserPrefs, nothing like textbox history option. What could it have been? Where did it go? It was really useful. I have several websites that ask revolving security questions and it was cool - click in the box and pick the answer from my previous answers. This is kind of trivial but I really like to solve puzzles .....

IIRC, Opera never had something like that. Maybe you were using some kind of userscript?

I thought of those, but all I did when I went from 9.21 to 11.50 was to run the upgrade installer. Those things came out of the box. I've never done an extension or script. I didnt see the value of putting a green border around a box. It was like the yellow border that you see for login/password boxes for the Wand, but green. I did see the value of the history for text inputs

To be clear what I'm talking about.

At my bank website I often go into the Transfer Funds page, where I can move money from one account to another. When I clicked into the box to enter the amount to transfer, a little box popped up [it went up from the field, not down like a dropdown box] that was just like a tooltip. pale yellow color for the background. It had all my recent amounts.

80.00
125.00
663.50
....

or whatever

Since I do a regular transfer once a week it was easy - select that amount and I'm done. I kind of wondered about having that for boxes in a security context, but it seemed to be all across input textboxes.

I guess I could go back to my old 9.21 and upgrade again ..... :-(
